Bored all the way up to level 14, when I realized there was another necessary trick to beat that one, after which I was bored until the end of the game.
It's really disappointing to see what seems like an excellent puzzle platformer become annoying because of the control scheme. I'd like to change WASD to arrow keys, and make clicking on the screen do nothing (since I need to do that to regain focus if I alt-tabbed to something else, like an IM convo).
I wanted to give this game less than 5/5, because it comes from the same vein of nongames like Fantasy Online and Dream World with increasingly time-consuming missions and limitless leveling. But the game itself is just so damn fun. Truly an excellent surprise to find myself very much enjoying the actual game.
The core of this as a card game seems solid enough. However, there are numerous issues with the actual experience of the game, from interface to the too-dominant gold mine. Also, a help page that explained what all the numbers on the cards meant would be useful. I'd like to see Cardian 2, but I can't rate this any higher than 4/5.
I think you should get a +5% happiness every time you beat the horde. To balance out all the -5% you have to suffer through. On harder and nightmare, happiness is low enough to start.
On one hand, I respect the game for having the balls to be truly challenging. On the other hand, I've had my scientist killed with 3 days remaining on antivenom when I had a solid 20% defense against the horde. I may have snapped a few pencils.
I'm usually a fan of RTS, but this game is impossible to control. Pathfinding is terrible, control scheme is terrible, and the AI is terrible so when I lose I know it's because I just couldn't get my units to do what I want. Also: what's the point of 'lives' when I can select my level from the main screen?
You make me name and grow my pets. I learn to love them. Then you force me to let them free to make room for new ones because there's so few slots. This is heartbreaking to me.
