Interesting. Yes it's a knockoff, but the creator says so basically, no don't bash for that. The physics is close enough to not nitpick. However, many times the solution I got was far different from the suggested / proposed. Fine, but to give points then, you need to play test the crap out of it because people are different.
Still, amusing enough. Liked the graphics and variety of objects. 30 levels is about the limit though, 25 would have been nice.
good version. addicting. interesting though, going through the world the first time was time consuming and daunting towards the end. then repeating the worlds was too easy and just grinding. but I'm rather glad as it was taking too long already.
like the balance of cards/monsters and mana use.
a bit laggy though.
caves 1-3 normal hard level, so winable with a little effort.
cave 4, way hard. saw lots of methods and finally won myself.
cave 5. i don't know, I just beat it. no strategy, just started playing across the map, came across the kill due and killed him right after he killed my hero, then just won. odd.
minor annoyance: find my hero unresponsive to direct commands 80% of the time in battle. using retreat key has better success though, but still an annoying work around.
basically hate all point and click games, but this was at least intelligent and not too long. agree with other posters - more lighting would have been nice. making the crowbar was a leap and the on/off was the hardest thing.
a bit memory intensive and caused lag, but so do most these days.
great effort, nice story.
glad it was shorter than previous ones. liked the extra people stuff, though see in other games. liked the timing issues.
HATED the LAG. crap, that just ruined it, redoing tons of levels for mid-move lag mess ups.
good effort. there's a galaxy game like this out there too, can't recall name.
the building between levels problem removes itself after wave 5 when the lag is so bad you have all day to build :(
so, if you can fix the lag (yes, I have everything off), then maybe fixing building stuff as people have asked would be good.
the screen is a bit long too. and healing can't always be easily selected. also, selecting a turret above the slow one is darn near impossible too for some reason.
I can't seem to get the rapid turret strategy to work, seems too expensive. missiles work well, but I was ultimately owned by the drums anyway :(
lag between game over and restart is painful as others have noted.
good stuff though
like these games, Bot Arena is far better though, for variety of upgrades, changes and graphics. in this game, I never moved and won easily by farming and adding tanks and upgrades. I hate the controls, but that's because I'm retarded, not your fault :)
nice effort though, glad to see something other than point and click nonsense.
very cool.
needs badges.
needs speed up button.
needs main menu to show all levels (lock those not attained) just to have some sense of how much there is.
tutorial needs more mechanics info for those who don't understand simple physics. might be good to show how supports help with loads. basic yes, but a lot on here are 10yr olds who've never been outside their rooms and this might be the only physics exposure they get.
not a fan of this genre and this is lacking in real upgrades. the upgrades given just allow you to get to things faster, but no real power increases for instance. so it's basically sit and wait until you've maxed everything out and spam. and heck, sometimes even that doesn't work, unless you do it perfectly.
so the lack of real upgrades, combined with randomness, and with no real strategy and entirely too long time per board = not so good.
the technical game creation is good - graphics, instructions, playability, etc. just doesn't "work" in the end for me. Epic War is a better version here, and even that isn't great.
love tD games, this is ok. my problem isn't with the game, it's with these user ratings. I mean, people are saying, "yeah, this game is only ok", or "decent for a TD game", or "sucks" and yet giving it 4/5
WTF?!
similar comments as others:
1) generic
nice 1st effort, don't get me wrong, but adds nothing to the genre
2) aim
actually, I don't mind that the towers don't hit 100% of the time - that inaccuracy has actually been implemented effectively in other TD games. however, some of the towers hit 0% all the time, and that's just a waste.
3) speed up button needed
nice that you have different board choices, the game loads and plays easily, and graphics are good without being intensive.
other basic suggestions:
pause button
restart button
but ultimately, you need to find something to make it unique.
and as far as easy, the red/splash towers are way overpowered compared to others - that's all you need to win.
as you say, it's good to take a nice tutorial and change it up to get the experience w/o being a computer whiz.
that said, if you want to make great flash games, you're probably going to have to invest the time and effort to become a computer whiz.
so for home project = grade A effort
for online game others on Kong want to play? not so much.
good start, now get cracking on the code learning
overall good first effort. don't mind not seeing every enemy detail (in a real war you wouldn't either). graphics distorted as mentioned, but don't really care (there are other games with same issue). problem is lack of depth of either board layout, # of tower types, etc, so as to set this apart from all other TD games.
you've already noted speed up and pause, so hope to see that soon.
good 1st effort. fixes needed, some already noted:
1) poison effect. not only reversed as noted, but should be over time, not wham.
2) use of space. try mouse over info, or pull out dialog boxes. words hard to read sometimes due to cramped space. the RH sidebar is way too intrusive.
3) more maps and levels as noted by others.
4) graphics are fine - simple is good for speed
5) some way to know when it ends?
other jump games are better. hell, you can just do nothing and get all the money, then work a little at controls to get all the achievements.
sure it's easy to play, decent graphics, no lag, etc, but since others are there already, this was not needed. further, it sure doesn't need badges - except hard i suppose.
finally got it to play again after java update. that's annoying because it played the other day which means either java screwed something or gemcraft was changed during release, which may be annoying.
anyway, now I have a problem with the mana bonuses. I get 2,000 mana and yet no bonus at end of level. ok, so I try 3,000 mana and then I get the bonus for 2,000 mana. ugh. not a huge deal, but annoying and this wasn't a problem the other day.
