You are the first person to put up a snake clone that is at least different! For that I am going to violate my "Snake gets 1/5" rule.

Some of us are used to flying with the up/down reversed. (mimicking joystick pull back to climb, push to dive) Needs an option to choose that control.
Climbing should slow you down, diving should speed you up.

I'm not all that impressed with the gold mining strategy. I'd like to see some other mechanism to get upgrade points. (falling gold? Gold magnet upgrade?)
But, it has the requirements for a decent breakout game.
