Started out cool, with a promising-looking backstory and unique gameplay. Got old really fast, when the tutorial turned out to have no instructions at all and the luck factor became outrageous. Turned into an irritating grindfest round about chapter 5 and then crashed at chapter 6 and won't reload now. This could be a 5/5 game, but it needs fixing.
This is one of the most beautiful, atmospheric games I've ever played. It feels as if I'm in a Studio Ghibli movie, especially the undersea segment. The top comments already say everything else I want to say, so I'll just add that this game is so beautiful it made me tear up while I was playing. *goes off to cry at the sheer beauty of it*
A great improvement over the first game in almost every aspect. Kudos to the devs for incorporating player feedback and coming up with a great sequel! I have only one criticism though, and that is movement which is still pretty awkward. Very often, getting through narrow gaps becomes a matter of pixel hunting - with arrow keys. And movement on ice is frankly awful. I can see there's supposed to be a difference between moving on ice and moving on regular terrain, but having both sliding and unresponsive keys makes it far too difficult to control, especially with knockback in combat. Plus there seems to be a bug where after coming off ice, movement is slowed by 50%. Just something to keep in mind if ever there's a third game :)
I dunno why but my mind kept trying to fit a tragic, tragic backstory to the knight. Something to do with how her lifespan runs out within mere days...
Great game! But one thing I dislike is that the events seem to be scripted and there's no way to avert them. E.g. at one point, I lost a big farm plus a defender. I reloaded an earlier save point and boosted defenses to more than double what they were, and still lost farm plus the exact same defender. Same thing with illnesses, people leaving etc - reloading and changing things doesn't seem to make any difference at all.
Unihound is...wow. I beat the LittleGiant cup at level 21 and took less than 100 damage doing it. Agility 322 dodged practically every attack and power 363 allowed me to do a ton of damage with the 1-energy attack. That speeded the fight up a lot and I didn't have to waste time waiting for the major attacks then missing on them.
I love this entire series. There's something wonderfully restful about painting balls :D and being able to click on tools to use them instead of dragging and dropping made it even better.
Fantastic game, and being able to tweak the statistics in between battles really allows for strategizing. My only complaint, and it's a huge one, is the lack of healing between chapters. It really sucks to start a difficult run like the sewers/streets with everyone at 20-40% health and half the monsters with enhanced damage.
Whoa! The Exca series weapons pwn. It's a pity that by the time you get them and the Loki AMU, there's not really much left to do with all that superfirepower. There should be a sandbox mode...
Three major issues with this game, all of which haven't been fixed since it was uploaded and SHOULD have been fixed before badges were added. (1) No way of pausing the game or ending it without dying. Hello? Ever consider that people need to take a toilet break or answer the phone? (2) Key registration is awful. It shifts randomly from ninja to ninja! (3) In "story" mode, instructions for the boss fights are just not clear enough. I went through level 5 six times before figuring out what I was supposed to do. I touch type at 80 wpm and even for me, repeating the level over and over again just to try and work the boss fight out was a PAIN. And that's without going into the misspellings and non-English words. Seriously, this game needs cleaning up.
