So this game suffers from a serious issue... Very very few resources... What I mean is, I can make a ton of Ale, because there are 2 things to get it... but I can only get a little iron. I can't pay for a mine extension? the pick axes can't double the production? *sighs* This game needs balance... It looks fun, it really does, but there are mistakes that make me wonder if anyone play tested this game.
Some neat programming... Work on this, polish it, you have good level progression, and some good puzzles (however they are a bit... odd... color platforms was just confusing, couldn't get a third of the platforms to rise.) and some good ideas, work on it.
Thank you, I'm actually working on a standalone version now. I appreciate the feedback, and I'm working on the puzzles so that they (hopefully) make a bit more sense. The Ludum Dare sleep deprivation was getting me pretty hard by the colored stairs.
Damn... dat storyline... I'd give it a 4/5 because it's a story, not a game... but I'll give it a 5/5 to offset the people who will just vote 1/5 because they don't read the story.
Let me say this first; Yes, this "taking rocket into space" game is very much like the "taking rocket into space" genre defining game. Get over it or I'll start calling COD a "Doom-like". Next, good game, It is, again, very similar to Into Space, and It feels like you should have tried to add something to the beginning to make it different mind towards the end it was very different. There are a few bugs, and a few features thought of. The music during flight is amazing, but the music during the menu is very... very repetitive... and I found myself idling with my rocket hopelessly flying into space. Overall, 4/5. Next time, Fix the bugs before release, and work on that music, please.
Everything Chaotic Brian said is true. As a note to the dev as to what you should do next time. Limit the number of bullets, lessen the number of enemies, make getting hit mean something, and make the enemies bigger targets.
So... Why is it just the ONE picture that I can zoom in on? Also, the red gem is in the arm of the space suit... yeah didn't make much sense to me either. I could excuse the keys, and some of the placements of the other gems, it's just that one that bugged me.
As a suggestion. Make a skip button to just skip all the dialog... please... I only care about the story once, not the 6 times I've had to repeat act 4... Christ that time limit sucks...
Finally added a "No Dialogues" checkbox in the campaign screen. You can also access this checkbox via the Settings screen. This should allow you to skip all dialogues in-game (or turn them back on to the part where you want them turned on). Sorry for taking so long to get this feature out. I wanted to make sure I don't break anything else.
It had some testing going on, and i'm a starting dev so of course it's not going to be great. I don't mind the negative comment (if it was intended) will give me feedback for my next game which isn't going to be on Unity at all but it using CryEngine3, thank you for the feedback as it will strive to make my future games better, keep in mind though I was the only one really working on this project other then someone helping me out with some models and code, once again thank you.
Oh, two other things, both about powerups. The eye power-up is pointless... "yes we have to dodge everything, why do we have a powerup to make us see what's dangerous and what's not?" and the time slow powerup is a kind of.. well, poorly designed. It slows the bullets, but not the timer, which means- because the bullets are based off of the timer- that the bullets will be fired and will be closer together, therefore harder to dodge.
This game... I'm ok with this one. It's a good game with a bit of a unique feel. though I won't admit to caring for the keyboard controls in a bullet hell... but that may have been a bit of the point. Also, can you reconfigure the dash to pressing space down, not to letting it up, and making it so that you dash based on the last way you were moving, for if you stop for a moment, would be nice. Over all 4/5.
Yep, it was inspired from simon says. About originality, I get your point but honestly most games are copies of some others when I think in that sense.
It's a nice simple concept... Only thing I'd recommend is a bit more variety in the game play. Also bug report. It doesn't always register my key presses.
