The bird in level 30 literally requires a perfect speedrun. It took ~200 deaths before I got it. The rest of the game has reasonable difficulty, but that bird is insane.
Nicely done. The difficulty wasn't bad, the puzzles tended to make sense, the plot was good, and the cutscenes were excellent. I did have to use the walkthrough at times, but I had fun, so I'll give it a 5.
I made the mistake of trying to go for some of the in-game achievements. I want my two hours of attempting to get out of the prison back, but as that isn't an option I'll settle for subtracting 2 from my rating.
LongAnimals: I can confirm everything pampl said. The old file is still there, but the game won't accept it, even when it's been renamed. (Fortunately for me, I made a backup before renaming and losing it.)
Is it possible that you recently added a new variable to the save file and reset the file if it isn't found? Having worked with save files myself, I'd say that's the most likely possibility.
This game is easy enough once you figure out the tricks. For example, if you're playing as Dan or April, you can walk directly up/down and never be hit (unless you walk straight into a boss's projectile).
Also, keep in mind that the goal in the p-bot challenge is to cover the entire floor, and you will be able to consistently get 8-9 bombs from it.
I don't know why, but the game gets a lot easier after your first completion.
Just saying that the game is hard is no excuse for bad game design. The controls are too sensitive, as is the collision detection. How many times do you have to be told this before you do something?
The controls should not be your worst enemy. You should not have to buy an xbox to play this properly. This game should be hard because it has tough levels, not because it makes you run into what should be easy-to-avoid obstacles. Anyone who's with me on this, please subtract 1 from your rating.
tunaburn: The game autosaves after each level.
Alexandersshen: There is a scoring system based on the number of levels you can beat. I don't want to add one for anything like fancy jumps or completing levels with few deaths, as I don't want players to be worrying about that.
Everyone else: Thanks for the positive feedback!
