I guess I'm confused ... I play a lot of TD games, but I'm not sure why I'm getting the "game over" screen. It happens at the start of a new level -- the enemy approaches my first tower, and then game over. Did I take too much damage in the last? Where is the health bar for the queen? Seems like this should be obvious ... no one else has mentioned, so maybe I'm just thick.
For anyone who's rusty on runner games and wondering if this is worth keeping at: after five miserable starts I unlocked the awesome on this. It is worth working at 'till you at least get to catch on fire and punch out a pterodactyl.
Really nice. Can I suggest for the color toggle having three options -- one that starts the cycle, another that freezes on a color, then the third that goes to white. I'd like to be able to hold on just blue, or green, or etc.
Oh -- and apparently in the future humanity has HORRIBLE GRAMMAR. And when they exile a general for doing something they think is really bad, they put him in his ship with unlimited ammo.
Yes -- agree with comments on graphics. Really nice. That alone kept me engrossed. But once I died against first general, and started way back at the beginning of Day 7, I realized it was too repetitive for me to want to try again. The weakest drones are too easy to kill, and wave after wave of them just makes me yawn. As in literally, get tired and yawn. Also -- what's with the bounce when you reach the edge of the screen? It's bad for game play, and looks odd.
I'm sure I'm in a minority, but the energy depletion setup makes this game perfect to play when I'm taking a break from working. It's impossible to get sucked too far in and forget to get back to what I was suppose to be doing.
I enjoy the idea of the dogfights, but I have to say -- I HATE missiles. I understand they take skill to use, but for me one-shot-one-kill is totally against the whole feel of WWII combat (nevermind the historical accuracy). The best part of dogfighting is trying to stay on someone's tail and bring them down, or shake someone who's doing the same to you. It's suddenly hearing bullets pinging off your fuselage and diving frantically towards the water. Getting blown up before the fight even starts obliterates all the elegance and tension of the genre. Unless the missions are great, I can't see myself playing much longer.
My first 5 rating ever. This is surprising and beautiful and sometimes disturbing and sometimes funny and sometimes both. It works like a brain works, leaping from image to image -- yet somehow projected for all of us to see. I am envious, and encourage you to keep making these, and create your own museum on your own website, and make a living doing it. Seriously. You should be getting art grants for this.
I'm assuming you fixed the Firefox screen-size bug -- thank you! Here's an idea I was thinking about, that I share more in a "would be cool!" spirit than "please do this!" To make the connection between pearls and titles clear, have a kind of roulette wheel when you die, populated by potential titles, with frequency and selection based upon the number of pearls you earned -- establishing a clear connection between accumulating (selling) all that stuff, and some game benefit. The connection is unclear now, and I sometimes feel silly actually caring about managing my inventory.
I'm sure someone else has mentioned similar prob -- I was running towards an enemy when my health suddenly tanked and screen went black. Music still playing. Had to reload. In a game without a save, this is very discouraging! Not to say I want there to be a save, I like Roguelike games, partly for the real consequences.
Umm ... my screen is off center. Can't click inventory, or see right or bottom edges. Would assume it's a prob on my end, but don't see it with any other game...
Ah -- ok. I was actually removing cards from the deck, not adding them. Still -- would be nice to get a message telling me something, instead of just freezing up.
Hmm -- trying to fight my first battle, but freezing on the "Select which deck to use in this battle" screen. And when I reloaded, the cards I had selected for my deck seem to have vanished from my selection ...
This is really great. Love this genre, and being able to play it for (kinda) free rocks. I respect you at least putting a lot of planes in as AP's not GP's. And if I really like the game, is $5 so crazy an amount to unlock extra content? Anyway, some requests: I'm still not sure why the "rejoin the fight!" warning comes on -- thought it was for map boundaries, but if so you need to make it much clearer where those actually are. Maybe I'll learn the maps, but for now I would think I was heading back to "the fight!" and just get whipped around by invisible forces while my enemies shot at me.
