This game is rated highly because it is a great puzzle game. But as pretty much everyone is saying, the frustration doesn't lie in the puzzle solving, but the fact that you are 0.00003mm off and it won't let you pull that really obvious piece out!! Added to that, you are not allowed to make micro adjustments, you have to move the cursor quite far before the game registers that you did intentionally hold down the mouse button to move a piece and then you move the piece about an inch too far.
Not a bad escape game. Few annoyances however. First is that my knife just disappeared for no reason, there was just an empty inventory slot. It was the reason I finally checked the walkthrough (I had the boot from the other room by this stage). The hidden star under the floor board is just silly, there is no clue to work that out, just makes you random click everywhere.
Nicely done with the game! :) Just a couple of improvements IMO, first being that up and space should swap (up=jump, space=read/door). The second is when you die, it would be nice for a little losing your keys/coins animation as I forget if I need to get keys again. Otherwise a fun little platformer. Reminded me a little of Henry's house on commodore 64!
"Oh and it’s full of swearing, so if you’re offended by that- I don’t know, grow up"
...Because it's children who are offended by swearing now? When did this happen? Better go tell gran to grow up!
I liked this game, but didn't love it like other Nerdooks'. I think that I would have preferred the attacks more like "straw hat samurai" as they seem based on it anyway. But the REAL big downfall for me was the buttons and HUD all in the way. Spacebar is better to use demon pill, but instead you accidentally click it trying to kill enemies at bottom of screen. All in all a fun game with the usual Nerdook humour I've come to love :)
I agree with most here, so much potential for a GREAT game. I think that the mouse (camera) control could use a bit more love in the tutorial as it took me about 12 ants thinking how I wished the camera would let me above the ant, not behind it and then realised it was up to me. Having reload and power up change next to each other was dangerous to me on many occasions too. But I'm loving where this game can go :)
Great game concept! I don't know if it is my computer, the plugin, or what it is, but half the time the colours just show up white on the board and the cube. I need to rotate often to make the colours appear.
Good graphics and programming, but please change the curser for usable objects or at least communicate with the player to tell them not to click there etc. Otherwise these escape games become more of a random click experience than a puzzle solving game. Also why does your "help" link take you to random sites?
All of these comments and the only person who mentions the last screen is ChaosII7. Awesomely random ending, thanks for the laugh!!! (and follow Chaos' suggestion, trust me...)
I grew up playing this game, I love it thanks for making a flash version!!! Just one to add though, I think it would be good if you were forced to look at the dice when playing "realist." It would be your responsibility by this stage to spot the "3x4s" or the "nothings" etc. Or at least an option to turn off the little scraps of paper telling you what you have rolled.
