Adorable game (especially the armadillo which makes me d'aww every time he barks), love the twist on "launch type" game which makes the player a lot more active than other contenders where you just launch and wait (or spam a repetitive action). Very nice learning curve, calm and soothing music that goes perfectly with the overall tone. 5/5. The only way I see it could be better is with different characteristics for the different animals, and also maybe more upgrades?
Easily the most compelling story I have ever seen in a flash game, supported by excellent characterization, well-written dialogues and beautiful character artworks. Not a huge fan of the game itself, but still giving it a 5/5 if only for the mass of work writing everything must have been.
I liked the idea behind the game, but the game itself? Not so much. 64 levels is a bit too much, especially with that kind of repetitive gameplay. Difficulty on any #-8 level is way too hard. Ironically, at some point I turned off my headphones because the bland-one-quarter-at-a-time music got really annoying. Finally I think the inventory system could get a rehaul as it's hard to know what bonuses you already have, and what bonuses you could get from what you have in it.
Not only is it an awesome game but it also does not have that annoying 3-strikes-and-game-over rule that other Nitrome games always have. Triple thumbs up!
Having completed every level should give you double points to spend when you level up. Finishing all the levels with a brilliant rating should give you triple, or altenatively just max out your stats, because there is no replay value except dumb grinding.
The controls aren't clunky, they just use momentum more than in other platformers. Once you get used to it, jumping where you want is easy and the controls are extremly responsive.
The armor I have: +30 Defense +5 Magic defense; Price buy/sell: 7 / 1. The armor the armorsmith is trying to sell me: +25 Defense + 5 Magic defense; Price buy/sell: 2037/509. I SMELL A SCAM.
A tip that optician probably won't agree with (especially for dead on time): Stand as close to your monitor as possible, it makes it easier to see if that guy far away is a zombie, a civilian or a soldier.
Eh, favourited every Nerdook game since he began making them, but not this one. The player AI was kind of dumb (I'm looking at you, stupid samurai), not many strategies could work except "replace your whole roster with the new available mercs", and overall it didn't feel as enjoyable as the other games because of the difficulty.
