Dual wielding Stark One with swords was a fairly fun build. Tons of passive skills, so no need to waste rounds casting stuff, bit slow at first, but after getting ambidexterity, things started rolling nicely and in the end was easily averaging 250 damage per round, while taking practically none.
*sigh* 2nd time already with a play that fulfilled all badge criterias and still no badges. :( Net went down just when I pressed submit score and game refused to save my score or give badges.
A bit of an odd game: the odds on couple first rounds are totally random, so you can easily win 100k cash betting on the first two rounds, if you know which dogs are good (i.e., played the game before). After that you just upgrade your dog & cheat to win the rest of the time, since the cheating penalties are so small.
@Eric: Heavy infantry becomes more important later in the game, when mortars can clear the hordes from your walls and machine guns take out the aerial threats, then you need the bazookas for the bombers & carriers. 10/4/4 or 9/4/5 works better than 12/4/2 or 13/4/1 at that point. Also, if you put your heavies to the far right or far left, they can shoot the critters bashing the opposite side tower on that wall.
The controls are pretty ugly and even the first level got boring about halfway through, because I had gotten all sorts of towers fully upgraded by then, nothing new out there and tons of waves left. The tower targetting AI is silly and the fact that you can't change it makes this a bit annoying to play. The pathfinding AI sucks, because if you trick the first penguin with the build & sell strategy, all the rest will follow every single one of the first ones footsteps, even when it's obvious there's no path that gets closer to the finish in that direction.
I like the way fliers are implemented here. But the silly tower targeting algorithm and the lack of any options to change it ultimately makes the game a little too tedious to bother with.
Fun, original idea, but a pretty easy game, since the enemy never gets stronger. It's all about getting those first few towers out in time. After that you just strengthen your economy and obliterate the opponent.
