I am no longer growing carrots on my island because of the sheer number of players who insist on "helping" by harvesting carrots that already have the yellow aura and another player's avatar standing right next to them.
@bakkart More like they looked at all of their top ranked players (who, more often than not, paid to get there) as if that was standard and designed the event to be "challenging" (IE: squeeze more money out) of them, heedless of, or just apathetic to, the fact that it would completely shut out everyone else.
Everyone, there are two things you need to know about sick animals. #1: If somebody helped out by feeding them but they were sick by the time you were able to get back on again, accepting the help will remove the sickness. And #2: Sick animals can be sold. It'll be at a financial loss, but med kits are not easy to come by in this game, so unless it's something irreplaceable(?) like the lion or penguin, nobody's going to spend one for you, and taking that loss is a lot better than having an island full of sick animals that make everyone think you've quit the game so they only "help" with the big rocks when they visit you.
The worst part about people doubling up on "yellow halo" tasks is that I don't even know which one of the two people who did the exact same thing is the idiot. I know some things can be done more than once (well, clay pit, etc.) so it shouldn't be straight-up prohibition from redundant clicking, but maybe consider something a little more visible and informative? Like a number that pops up when you highlight something showing how many other guests have already done it?
Two changes I would like you to consider that would make this game feel less like pay-to-win crap: #1: Consider having a character stat -- perception or intelligence -- also affect the quantity or quality of mission rewards so it feels more like a strategy game and less like we're playing a slot machine. And #2: Allow players to sell their overstocked materials and unused equipment in the shop. Even if I can only get one bullet for my L-1 protective suit, that's still better than having it just sit there taking up space.
I call hax on everyone who claims to have gotten the medium badge. This thing is broken to a horrific degree. The controls are murder on your left hand and only respond a quarter of the time, the towers have the durability of wet kleenex and there is no indication whatsoever as to whether it will even let you build one or not, the yetis have invincibility buffers that let them kamikaze straight at you and your defenses without dying, but you do NOT have one so you can go from full health to dead in less than a second... Have you EVER played a video game before?!! This is the video game equivalent of taking a crap into everyone's Christmas stocking, and shame the hell on Kongregate for enabling you just so they can pretend they don't have nothing but pay-to-win idle games now.
Either every action other than throwing a snowball does not work, or it's unclear on how to do it. The fact that I had to contort my hand in between movement and shoveling snow also did not help my opinion of this. Were this not a winter-themed game and Kongregate trying to pretend they're not just a venue for idle pay-to-win crap, this would have easily been forgotten amongst all the other 8th grade comp-sci projects as it so richly deserved.
Two things that would make this game feel a lot less crap. #1: If perception or intelligence increased your chances of acquiring more and/or better rewards. And #2: If we could sell or dismantle all of the obsolete gear we no longer use.
Something else that could save a lot of time: If, when performing actions for a friend, we don't have to walk over and do them: We just select them. They won't actually get done until the player we're helping logs back on and accepts the help anyway.
I swear this wretched thing is programmed to recognize when the player is doing well, because that's when it randomly flashes "Connection Lost" over and over until it's able to declare "Oh, dur, we lost the connection too many times so now you're dead." There's sad, there's pathetic, and then there's whatever the hell this is. Go sit in the corner and think about what you've done OldRookStudio.
Is anyone else just getting pictures of Paprick from the Advent calendar? Half of me suspects it's bugged, the other half is wondering if it's because I clicked on it the day before. :p
Hey there, good question! I put it in since it makes getting certain achievements easier and for another reason that had to do with an older version of the game :)
There are classes in this? I don't remember it ever giving me the option to choose a class. Did OldRookStudio just confess that this is actually a trial version?
I understand why only nine people have attained the impossible badge: Because this thing inevitably starts crashing over and over so that the game literally becomes impossible.
I second the call for a barn. We won't always have access to the internet, and it would be nice if there was some means by which we could unplug without having to come back to an island full of sick animals. Considering how much we do for Paprick, etc., I don't think it would be unreasonable, even if at the end of a quest line and at the cost of some shells and/or whatever resources they would have otherwise provided during that time, to be able to build a barn, stable, pasture, or whatever you want to call it, where he will show up in our absence and make sure they don't starve before we can plug back in again.
I know the songs are only a few seconds long, but the fact that there is no level skip and/or pause button is ultimately what kills it. You don't get better -- you screw up, then get frustrated while going through twenty much less difficult songs to get back to where you were, and by the time you finally do, you've been left bored and now your edge is gone. For such a simple game, that's one hell of an oversight.
Hi! Thanks for the feedback! I've just published a new version, the songs of the levels are now completely mixed, even the most difficult ones! This should lower the difficulty level a bit and allow for a breather between two challenging songs. No more difficulty gap at lvl 21! You can also pause/unpause the game by pressing P, and practice the songs in the training mode!
When in doubt while visiting another player's island, empty the clay pit. It regenerates five times faster than the energy needed to empty it yourself.
Your "special events" appear to be endless, and also to just get worse and worse as they progress. Just in case releasing an obvious reskin of this game was not blatant enough, I suppose. Screw the impossible badge, shame on you, and shame on Kongregate for enabling you.
Four of my last five arena fights were against pay-to-win players, and two of them were against the exact same person. Either the other players are AIs with recycled and randomized names, you suck at player balancing and/or randomization, or the tolerance for your pay-to-win crap wears so thin that the number of players who tolerated it up to "Tunnels" number in the single digits.
