Cool game but a bit short.
How many secret levels were there? FYI, when you get the blue lights your max focus increases - which is the point of the secret level(s).
Huge repair bills combined with the massive amount of damage weapons do ruin this game. I saved up to buy the tank, but it is pointless to use since it would take winning 3-5 races (and taking no damage) in order to get enough money to fully repair it.
Whoops! Hit a mine - there goes a grand or two. Uh oh! An enemy was behind me for 3 seconds - there goes a couple more grand. It is ridiculous. Armor should reduce the damage taken not give you massive amounts of hit points that you have to spend a bunch of money to repair.
That's why your rating is so low.
The overheating isn't that annoying, but there should be an upgrade to reduce it somewhat. I'm more annoyed by the fact that the levels/bosses don't give you huge amounts of crystals - so if you want to upgrade your ship you have to replay the old minefield level a bunch. That is not fun.
Too many upgrades are a mixed bag - like firing off a bunch of missiles at once without increasing your capacity. Why would you even bother getting the final launcher upgrade? So you can run out of ammo twice as fast? No thanks.
It is a fun game, but it seriously needed to be beta tested by some experienced gamers. It would've had a much higher rating and made more money if you'd done that.
Stage 3-4 seems bugged - I won't play this game anymore until it is fixed. I doubt this happens all the time, but I almost won, and some sort of weird infinity loop happened, I think a ship showed up to infect my infected ships and vice-versa. The game slowed to a crawl very quickly and crashed my browser.
Oh, and the double click is a bit sensitive and I removed a few troops accidentally sometimes. You may want a toggle for it or an option to press a button on mouse over to prevent such accidents.
I liked the endings too.
"Selfishness never got anyone anywhere. I'm taking the Sun book."
Great game, this should be rated much higher. I was a bit annoyed in the earlier levels since I didn't know how to move and when I tried to make an incorrect move it would still deduct movement points from me but I wouldn't get any move.
Fix that and this game is golden. It is probably frustrating the newer players.
Can you give more detail about this problem? "when I tried to make an incorrect move it would still deduct movement points from me but I wouldn't get any move"
You can always move an unit anywere across board, but it will only Charging after matching three units.
Unfortunately I'm agree with you, I think he learning curve for this game is a bit steep for newer player in the beginning. But once you grasp the concept, it actually really easy.
The puzzles weren't that difficult, but the game makes you waste your time by pushing blocks very slowly for long distances and waiting for other various things like blocks dissolving. This wouldn't be so annoying if you didn't have to randomly make the right decision in certain spots because then you have to start over and wait for more slow crap to finish to hope you make the right decision next time.
Very boring.
I liked the voice over though.
Needs some balancing. For example, the drop rate on the dragon heart is really low - and not worth it since the tech armor is better than relic armor - except for the sword which you don't even need a heart for.
Honestly, I'm a bit disappointed considering the many other games you've made that I like so much. I think this game was technically more creative, but it wasn't as fun.
Sorry but I'm downrating this because you are unwilling to:
1) Fix the bugs like freezing so you can't move which then kills you.
2) Being unable to get the other companion if your current one dies
3) An annoying autosave you can't turn off which prevents you from stopping your game from getting screwed up
4) Losing thousands of experience points when you die - that is a game-killer for me.
Fix these and you get a 5 back but until then you get a 1 for making me waste my time.
I emailed Kongregate about this game possibly having phony accounts negatively voting it and a few hours later the rating jumps up a bunch.
I wonder if they found something?
There is some seriously shady crap going on here for your rating to be so low....
That being said, you do a great job, I do miss the dash feature though and would like to be able to upgrade the double jump. I haven't finished yet though, but I'm giving this 5 stars - it is way better than many of the games in the weekly/monthly list and I was pissed off that it disappeared so quickly off it.
