Also, the "damage bonus" for getting the spells in the same element is REALLY pathetic - no point in making that part of a strategy. The damage increase for elemental specialization should be something like +25% damage for 2 spells, +50% for 3 spells and 100% for all 4 spells.
Also, if you take my advice about spell switching then the "extra slots" should be modified to keep them useful - perhaps a reduction in slight reduction cooldown time for spells in addition to the slots.
This game would be infinitely better if you could switch active spells while paused and if there wasn't a delay for equipping spells. I never used the mason spell because it is so annoying to wait 10 seconds to use it. You could prevent abuse by keeping track of the recharge time even when a spell is inactive.
I'm not just whining because it is too hard - I do have the top score right now.
The other thing you could do is have actual improvements you could buy with gold. Towers that fire by themselves, mine layers who automatically place fire mines outside the city walls, engineers who repair the walls, etc, etc.
Good basic outline for a game though.
Thanks for removing the double tap dash. I was going to mention it but didn't want to seem like I was complaining too much. Removing that let me get the hard badge.
Yeah this could've been fun if it was based on reaction speed or strategy instead of memorizing your stupid scripts. Memorizing level layouts and AI scripts died out in the 80's buddy - get rid of that crap, add upgrades and you'll have a winner - until then 1/5.
I like the concept. Implement coin magnets for the sequel (chasing becomes tedious), proper shops so you can choose what weapons you want based on the money you have, more weapons, upgradeable weapons, more interesting enemies and of course make it longer.
Too much grinding, desperately needs a "repeat last action' button, most enemies have way too many HP or they have stupid crap like "I take half your MP," it literally takes over 30 levels of saving shit just to get better abilities and the magic you buy just isn't powerful enough to cut it in the meantime. Don't bother putting so much effort into a game if you aren't going to properly playtest it.
Okay, a couple things, if the upgrades reset every 24 hours then I'm not going to keep on playing - I'll just leave it to the hackers at that point. I'd like the top 10 or 20 people for the day to be able to enter in their own phrases that their characters might say during a race. A simple triple jump, costing maybe 1000 flowers or so would be cool to help make up for the disadvantages of having a high run stat.
Well, obviously it is laggy. This could be improved by giving the option to turn off the damage numbers which produce quite a bit of lag - and an option to stop the screen from flashing red every time you get hit. Finally, make all the weapons autofire - once I got the flamethrower (all the previous weapons I had were semi-auto), the lag improved tremendously since i wasn't clicking like a madman all the time. The big problem though is that there isn't much strategy involved - having mario style jumping would help a bit in that regard, but too many enemies just automatically hit you and the ones that dont' aren't worth the bother to dodge since you'll have to jump up super high and wait to come down.
Good game, the controls are slightly annoying though. I kind of like the arrow key setup where dash is the down button, but HATE it on the wasd where "e" is the dash - and the arrows are annoying to use with the mouse.
I'd like customizable controls and specifically there to be buttons for left and right dash. I'd make Q and E the left and right dash buttons and make something else the autofire key.
Beat all the stages but the game doesn't end - if you update please dont' screw up the saves. I think that happens when you change the name of the flash file.
