Hah I played the demo for this on the 360 only its called Smiley Smashout. Glad I can play full version now. xD I think music and sound effects may be different though. Also I think indie games on the 360 get almost zero attention (I'm probably one of the few that play almost every indie game demo lol) so its good it got more plays here. Fishing Girl got ported to the 360 as well.
I liked the game but it was hard to follow the story because the dialogue went kind of fast. The ending doesn't seem good for us: "Humankind was obliterated... but the wacky adventures of the two AI continues!" Well too bad for us I guess; sequel please!
This game deserves much more plays than it has received, but I guess thats point and click adventure games for ya. Instead "deep" games like Loved get the spotlight.
Battle Tips: Start off the fight using the emp bomb. Always go for body shots and don't bother trying to disable anything on the enemy mech. Manually shut down your mech rather than let it overheat, unless you'll win with that last hit. Otherwise you don't get a turn until your reactor has completely cooled off. Once you've got that level 5 machine gun and teleport, always teleport and shoot'em up unless they got a strong machine gun too. When in battles do not collect any drops unless you really have to; getting item drops will make another spawn the next turn which may be a repair kit next to your enemy! If you haven't used your repair kit and are going to win without using it, just use it anyway because the cost of the kit isn't nearly as much as the money you lose for repair costs after the battle.
Using all this I was able to beat normal in one go, haven't bothered with higher difficulties though. Hope this helps!
The way I used to beat normal mode was place all points into charisma. Level up the laser cannon, reactor, heat dispenser, and armor evenly. Whenever you can, begin to buy emp bombs and repair kits every match. Purchase the shield when it is available. After the shield, purchase an additional kit slot and start buying energy kits for every match. Once you have all of that and your hp is at least 200, begin working on the machine gun and about 2 levels in bullet storage. When the machine gun is about level 5 get teleport. At this point you ought to have beaten normal mode!

This game is great fun mostly for the weird concept to it, and the demo available after 100% completion shows promise as well!
@BlueZephyr Go to settings, then abdicate to reset your account. I don't recommend it though since starter critter is almost always shet no matter what anyway.
