There's a few things that were poorly thought out in this game, and the priority on abduction beam is one of them.
Trucks and rocks are on lower priority than people, which means when you need to beam up that truck to protect yourself from a biplane, you're pretty much out of luck depending on how many humans are surrounding the truck, or if you just blew up the truck recently because you had to for the truck challenge on day 3.
Also the trucks should just squash what's beneath them, it's crazy if I drop a truck on a pack of 10 people, it only kills 2.
Basically the trucks need a complete redesign and overhaul.
Level challenges to get to next level = good.
Idea of having an upgrade system = good.
Actual application of the upgrade system is horrible though, it pretty much is only there to force you to farm earlier levels for money to upgrade.
boomerang physics are bad in that they aren't there.
The boomerangs are literally just pulled whatever direction you didn't throw them, and this becomes painfully obvious in some of the levels, it's like there's a vacum sucking them that direction, or a magnet. As opposed to how it should behave.
this game would be atleast 3 times better, if not more, if you could just press a button to toggle speed up mode, instead of holding it down.
I am 100 percent serious. The game would be way more fun if you could toggle speed up, toggle.
The game is well programmed at fun, but i'm confused as to why there's more than one level, they all play exactly the same, the enemies all respond exactly the same, and the enemies don't get tougher since you just buy upgrades as you go along anyway.
That said, the core game idea is fun, if you find a way to add more variety into levels it would be really good.
The second alice is dead was awful, uninspired, and no different than any generic escape the room style point click game, and had none of the charm the first game did.
(this is a response to someone in the comments)
Okay I found the mute button. seriously, I have to either play the entire first level or delibratly fail the first level to get to the config screen before I can mute?
"don't rate because of controls" Controls are an important part of gameplay, of course people should rate because of controls.
Anyhow I haven't played this game because I can't seem to find the mute button.
AI needs work. I built an army of entirely archers (except the one leader group you have to take), and the enemy just sat back for an entire round while I peppererd him to death with arrows, never charged at me more then one axe group.
Any time a game lets you die immediatly upon respawning, before you even move, that's just bad game design.
Other then that, this was a fun game, good job.
Conversation choices when it's very clear they both say the same thing and don't effect dialogue in the slightest feels kind of tacky.
Doesn't have the same charm the first game had, but it's still allright.
A pretty shameless copy of Desktop Tower Defense, but the little changes and improvments are pretty cool and I really like it anyway, I'll probably play this instead of DTD the next time I feel like playing this kind of game.
I should not have to keep saying the following on games:
When you have to go to another website to play all the levels, tell the player at the START.
I was playing this game, and would have played the whole thing had I been told I needed to go to Mofunzone from the start. As it is, I'm not going to redo the first 25 levels just to play the rest.
24 day timer is much more fun than 60 second timer I think, messing up one level once cost you the whole game in the first one.
A level counter that says what level you're on would be nice, that's my only real suggestion.
I very much enjoy this game, good job.
The boss fights were a pleasent suprise. Game takes way too long though, the nice thing about shopping cart hero 1 was how you could play through a whole game of that in a quick 15 minute break or whatever.
Game becomes too easy too fast. It was an excellent game for the first few races, but after I bought a few upgrades I had to do several races where I never saw anyone but myself after the first minute unless I was lapping someone, and this includes all the bigdog races.
Maybe you need to have less powerfull upgrades, or harder late game missions. Fun for a bit though.
