Not bad, but the battle system lacks depth. You have options, but for many classes the best choice is just 'smash the target repeatedly with your basic attack.' Reworking the melee classes to make their secondary attacks more viable would make using them more interesting. Similarly, giving the spellcasters some mana regeneration in between combat would make it easier to use their abilities effectively. Enemies could use some more variety too. Overall, this could be a really cool game after a bit of tweaking.
So when you go to the menu screen (which I did to pause the game) it says "Are you sure you want to back out" and your options are "Cancel" and "Proceed"... I couldn't figure out which option would quit to main menu and which would let me keep playing (turns out you select 'cancel' to keep playing, fyi).
"I'll save you, o nameless Wife of mine!" *Proceeds to fight spiders, bandits, orcs, and trees, helping every person he meets along the way* "Wait, wasn't I supposed to be doing something specific?"
Not at all difficult; took me about five minutes. Simple but enjoyable nonetheless. However, those who came here hoping to be challenged to the point of frustration (which is often expected of escape games) will be disappointed.
Very nice! Very old-school feel with good difficulty, and I'm VERY happy you have keyboard control (lots of shooters don't include it and I hate trying to control a ship through bullet hell with a touchpad). My only issue is that the pixelized explosions are so massive and numerous that they pretty much fill the screen, making it difficult to tell where you are relative to bullets.
Excellent game, though the morale mechanic can be a little odd at times. First match I played the enemy had one (badly damaged) unit left, and I had six, with a force total of over 1500. At the beginning of the next turn all my units fled and the enemy won with around 60 soldiers left. Still, awesome game, five stars.
