Buried Treasure Week has begun!

view entry

For the most part, badges on Kongregate are decided by user rating, with the occasional exception for ones that happen to be totally awesome. But this week, it'll be the underdogs' chance to shine, as the Kongregate staff will be hand-selecting 5 games across the site that we feel you guys just never appreciated as much as you should. Each one might not have the best art, or the most sophisticated programming, or maybe there's a glitch here and there, but there's just something about the game that makes it the greatest thing ever.

Maybe you'll agree; maybe you'll disagree. But check back each day August 11 through August 15 to see our selections. Each game will receive a badge or two, be featured on the front page, and receive a small points challenge that will only last for a single day. It will be 15 minutes of glory for a few special games. If it works out well, we might even do it again in October. But for now, you can voice your thoughts and opinions about this week on our forum.

Notice regarding chain letters in game comments

view entry

The Kongregate staff would like to remind everyone that posting chain letter spam in game comments will not be tolerated. Any posting of chain letters will automatically result in a one-week suspension of that user's account, in addition to a full wipe of all game comments.

Roughly 200 accounts were banned today for this offense, and we will continue to take action if this trend continues. Thank you for your cooperation.

Kongai 1.1!

view entry

Thanks for all the feedback we’ve received in the last few days. We’ve added some features based on your suggestions, let us know what you think! 1. Significantly increased card award chance, especially if you don’t have many cards. 2. Added ability to host a private match vs the player of your choice (use the host game button in the lobby) 3. Decreased turn timer to 30 seconds 4. Choosing starter cards is no longer required to play the game. 5. Bug fixes! Note: Kongai is NOT eligible for the contest, but the contest rankings are automatic so it will continue to appear in it.

Woohoo! After 18 months of off and on development Kongai launches tonight. So build your deck and practice your mindreading, you don't need an invite to play anymore. No Rickroll, we promise, just good clean (okay, somewhat scantily clad) multiplayer fun.
