I LOVE the idea behind this game! Kudos for creativity! This should be featured. I give it a rare 5/5 for me. There isn't anything that really bothers me about this game.
One thing you could improve... When I hold down, instead of making it a "bobbing" action, consider making it so that as long as I hold down, he stays down. That way it doesn't do the move a 2nd time on accident and kill me... (because there is not enough time to recover from the 2nd iteration of the move and do the proper move I need to do to stay alive... if that makes sense...)
I both love and hate the mouse control of this game. I love it because it's unique and because I don't think I've ever seen one like it. I hate it becuase it's not as easy as arrow controls, and because if I leave my mouse in one place on the screen, my snake will do a 360 into itself and die. Consider adding arrow keys as an option?
Great graphics... great concept... But has some serious pitfalls that need to be addressed.
1) What the heck do I get by "leveling up"? Level 10... great... What's in it for me? Upgraded weapon? No. Upgraded special move? No. Extra lives? No. New enemies? No.
2) It needs bosses. There is no sense of achievement when you're doing the same action over and over and over.
It's a great concept, but until you expand it some it'll stay sort of mediocre. Good work so far though! ADD MORE!
You're obviously a very skilled artist. Make it more obvious that you can jump on enemies too.
It got a little repetitive after a while, but was great fun. Consider making the viewable screen larger (that, or make the character smaller so that I can see more).
I played it from start to finish and enjoyed it more than other platformers I've played on here. It was a cute game. That dude reminded me of Mr. Peanut from Planters Peanuts!
Advice:
1) The first boss (as far as I remember) does not make any noises or anything to indicate that he is being hurt at all.. I just jumped on his head until he died. Yes, it was intuitive since the only way to kill an enemy is to jump on them, but still, it needs to show pain or something. also, you might want to make a "kongregate" version... Newgrounds is mentioned in both the introduction and is written across one of the levels.
Other than that, excellent.
The game is well-written and the graphics are impeccable, but the fact that it is nearly impossible to land consistently in one place (since the other animals will randomly hit you)... and the simple concept of the game leaves me wanting something more.
The controls need some significant work. I got a kick out of the fact that there are like 30 characters who are all twins of each other with different hairstyles hahahha. Sorta fun.
...I beat the first wave of guys and I'm STILL sitting here with an empty area wondering how the heck I get to the next level. This alone is a sign that this is not a great game, as games should be intuitive, so I simply stopped playing there. The menus/instruction are cluttered (less is more). Graphics are pretty decent in game, but need a little more work to be consistent with each other.
I just can't give this high marks though... too many problems.
I LOVE this game...
The concept is very original and is unique. I thought this would be a stepmania clone, but I was wrong. The graphics are wonderfully done, and I thoroughly enjoyed the song.
Critiques:
1) Use a higher-quality version of the song, because although I love the melody, the quality is not great.
2) Some levels can be beaten simply through repetitive action. I died on the green tracking cannon, but since the cannons track the cursor rather than fire randomly, all I have to do is either repetitively sweep my cursor or make a circle or figure 8 pattern to beat some of the earlier levels. Consider random cannon fire instead of cursor-tracking fire?
Overall, excellent. I'll give you a rare 5/5 from me.
I enjoyed the game overall and the variety of enemies and weapons.
The shoddy menus, poor graphics, and loose controls, however, make for somewhat of a lackluster playing experience for me.
I didn't enjoy it at first (I feel like I need to see more of what is coming), but at the same time, if you simply watch the strength of the gravitational pull of your planet, you can estimate how large the off-screen planet is. The problem for those that don't realize this is that by the time the large planet is on screen... you cannot escape its gravitational pull. Other than that small problem, excellent game. 4/5 stars.
I WOULD have given this game 5 stars, but because almst everyone has said you need a replay button (a simply addition) and you have not added it, I'm giving it a four. It needs a replay button!!!
Keep working on it. I wasn't a fan of the controls... not sure what to tell you to change them to though. The music loop is too short and starts to drive you nuts after a while, especially since there is no transition back to the start of the song, so lengthen it and give it a smoother transition. Graphics are decent but need a rework for it to be great. Keep working on it.
Needs... a lot of.... changes... I like the tap-left tap-right thing but dang man those graphics made me lol xD. Also, translate it all to English. Also, the sound Fx are sometimes late... :-S Just needs a lot more work. It really doesn't stand out and really isn't playable for more than 30 seconds at this point.
Not bad for 14 years old. You need to make it so the car accelerates faster. It takes about 5-10 seconds to get back up to speed after hitting tires and this is something that quickly becomes tiresome (s just me) and it needs sound effects as well as music.
For 14 though? Dang good job.
Fun for a minute but too simple and a little shoddy design-wise. At least there were no bugs! Keep working on it. It could be fun, but not very much so at this point.
LOL... uh... wow... well... It was interesting.
The hit boxes are way too large on the obstacles and the lateral movement on the car shouldn't be dependent on the speed (if I want to move left fast at 5 MPH, I should be able to). It takes too long to accelerate and uh... well it was fun for a while.
