LOVED it. At first blush, it looks like a Flash Portal clone, but the player quickly figures out that the absorption mechanism really gives it its own flair. It's not impossibly hard, but it does give the brain a good workout, and it's a lot of fun. The artwork, the gameplay, everything came together very nicely. Loved it.

Not bad for a "messed up" game! It was quite fun! Agreed that Moth Mode is amazing.

Oh, wow. This looks like a fantastic multi-part game in the tradition of Coma & Nevermore. I'm thoroughly intrigued! MOAR!

A lot of missed potential in this one. You have the capacity to make a good, thoughtful art game, but are trying too hard to copy others' successes. The game's art style is so much like "The company of myself" that it's hard not to think of this, as damsel1 said, as the "cheap version." The art isn't even consistent. The boxes you're using for the player character and the end goal don't mesh with the other graphics. The errors in the interlude text break the immersion for me, namely the grammar and spelling errors and the factual error. (20 days isn't three weeks.) I understand not everyone has English as a first language, but it's kind of like listening to a nice song, and then hearing a note loudly played out-of-tune. So, to sum up, you've got a potential for a decent art game here, but to make it great, I'd urge you to find your own style, and brush up the interlude text. :) Keep working at it!

Like many others, I'm having serious lag issues. I'm using Windows 7, Google Chrome, on a computer that I just got out of the box this past February. (I tried it on IE, as well.) Once I get to the alleyway, it's so laggy as to become unplayable. I'm very disappointed, because I love the rest of the AiD series and the Hood series, so I really want to play this one! I hope it can be fixed!

You hadn't, perchance, played Eversion right before bed when you had those nightmares, did you? This kinda gives me an Eversion vibe--which is a good thing! I was bored at first, but by the end, I was sufficiently creeped out and thinking, "What." Nice job.

Developer response from masterlemons

Hahaha, I've got all of those horror influences. Yume Nikki, Eversion, Minecraft, every game that's been mentioned in the comments I've played and loved. So yeah, those games are definitely an influence. You'll get some stronger games from me in the future though, keep an eye out!

A good start! I had the opposite problem as others here--I was apparently invincible, because I kept getting shot, but nothing happened. I agree that a slower attack rate and multiple hit points would be a little better. Also, even after I picked up the fuel tank the first time, I could keep going back to the spot, and running across the empty space would fill my fuel bar up again. However, since there were no other fuel tanks around, and the game was impossible to finish without fuel, that wasn't so bad. My suggestion would be to add more fuel pickups. Those things being said, this has a lot of potential, and I still had fun playing it. Please keep working on it, because it's coming along very nicely!

Developer response from oversimplified

Thanks!!! It makes me really happy that you had fun playing it :) Invincible huh? It seems I left it in debug mode when I updated it last night... oh what the heck, it's a holiday weekend. The level design definitely needs some work. In the mean time, though, I'll see about more fuel tanks. In my head this is supposed to be as much a puzzle game as a robot-exploding game, so there's definitely more stuff on the way :)

I've always hated line rider-type games...until I played this. What a beautiful, tender experience using the line rider concept. The music was wonderful, and the story was simple, but heartwarming. Graphics were artful and well-made, and the controls were tight and intuitive. It's a great way to spend a few minutes. Well done!

Firstly...I love the plot. This "spiritual sequel" to Help the Hero is a fantastic continuation. (Really, we all knew the Count was going to end up like that.) The Zelda-inspired gameplay is fun, and the randomized, changing labyrinth is a neat twist. However, WHY, oh WHY didn't you work out all the bugs before you release it?!?! Some of these things (like not having enough keys) I can understand are a consequence of the randomization, but the ending bug is a terrible buzzkill. It's a huge letdown to do everything right, start on my mad dash for the exit with the princess in tow...and then get the "bad" ending anyway! Please, at least patch the ending, because I really enjoy this game, and it makes me sad to see it so screwed up!

Very cool! I usually don't do well with timed games, but five minutes was generous enough for me to mess up a couple times and have to play with the connections, but still keep me moving along. Love the soundtrack, and the atmosphere is great. Definitely does a great job of building on Continuity's gameplay, but still distinctly its own game. Well done!

Either the main weapon needs better damage, the enemies need to move more slowly, or the upgrades need to be more frequent, because as it is, several of the enemies move so fast that they are impossible to kill before they slam into the main character. The soundtrack is cute, but it's...mediocre.

The physics are too slippery for the exact jumps needed here. It's not a bad first try, but you need to tighten them up.

Good concept, but a couple constructive criticisms: the controls are a bit confusing. It's reflexive to try to jump with the "D" key, so you might consider adding that in. Also, the detection on the enemies' light radius isn't consistent. Sometimes, while shadowed, I can be inside the edge of an enemy's circle of light and not be "killed", but sometimes, if I just barely touch the edge of the circle, while still shadowed, I die. Also, just a thought, being able to jump right after you release the hook would be cool. I admit I fell into a pit a couple times by hooking to the ceiling, then releasing the hook and trying to jump mid-air. >.< Otherwise, I really enjoyed this game. The design's pretty tight, and the music works well with it. Good work!

Very interesting game! I like it, although adjusting the light radius wouldn't hurt. I do like that finding a scroll refills your sanity, though! I do find it slightly amusing that the main character has a gun that she(?) never uses, though. Not a criticism, just an observation. :)

Developer response from caladan21ph

The guy has a gun because he's supposed to be placeholder art.;p Was planning to make a new character but ran out of time. Thanks for playing Celidah!:)

Interesting, but I made it to the end once with my companion, and once with my cat (that could have been with a cat AND a companion if I hadn't went to the door without her), and I thought "that ending doesn't make sense anymore. I'm not alone." So I think a good addition would be a different ending, perhaps a hopeful one, if you make it to the end with a companion. Otherwise, interesting.

Concept is good, but the control scheme needs work. It doesn't always detect when one is holding the mouse button down, and I think that a keyboard scheme would be better suited to it. That being said, I like the idea, and the "doodled" artwork works well. I like the music and the color changes, as well. If you revised the control scheme (and maybe added some achievements, for kicks and giggles), I can see this being a really addictive, fun little runner game.
