I wished the mission briefings gave you a hint about whom you are supposed to shoot. Since most targets are stationary, most missions are a gamble as to who is your target. The popular comment saying what you have to do - mostly info that should have been in the briefing - is not popular for nothing. Clever missions like the last one and the one with the satellite dish are pretty cool and do not suffer from this issue. Three other minor gripes: the training mission has very lousy hit detection and the politician mission is annoying because of the sudden violent movements of the gun - I can aim better in real life! Number three is that it would be nice if newly bought accessories would be equipped by default, since there is little chance you do NOT want to equip bonus items.

After reading this game was released BEFORE Phage Wars, I have to give it credit for being novel and simple but effective! The controls are a bit less intuitive than those of Phage Wars, but that is definitely forgivable. No issue with the flag screen here; perhaps it was fixed in the meantime, but otherwise: I am using Firefox 3.6.4 and the latest version of Flash. If that does not work, it has to be some setting on your system. Perhaps this information helps someone :-)

As the author seems to be keeping a close eye on the comments, allow me to offer some constructive criticism - perhaps some of the below is worth looking into: - Some updates seem to be counter-productive: speed (as mentioned before) and accuracy (less spread = less surface of mining probe covered). - The mineral magnet has a very short range and makes the minerals move so slowly that it hardly makes any difference. For an item so expensive, it is pretty lousy ;-) Perhaps the magnet could be made to move SMALLER minerals faster? - A mute button for the music would be nice. Alternatively, it might be worth considering using different, less monotonous music. Finding such music should be easy enough... - Although mouse aiming is all the craze nowadays, it seems to me that this game would benefit from the W/S = forward/backward and A/D = turn control scheme. That may be a bit to drastic a change, though. All-in-all, I like this game, but I think it has a lot more potential.

Developer response from Arcainne

Thanks for the advise! I've had some of these ideas in mind before, but wasn't able to implement them earlier. However, now that the base game is done, I should be able to develop more refined/beneficial upgrades. I'll see what works best for the game.

I think having to walk around adds difficulty to the game and although 'jumping' may not be the right term for it, I think it is a good thing to keep. As for walking around: I actually was thinking about how cool it would be if you could walk INTO the rooms and look at EVERYTHING, like the bottom of the desk... The game would be tremendously more difficult that way, but hey, it's great fun regardless and if you keep track of the right answers, you could always quickly return to where you left off.

I think this proposal. But for now, I try to explore more than the concept 'without going'

@CraftyTurtle: Why do you want to spoil other people's fun by giving the answers? I actually like how you have to take a different PERSPECTIVE on the same scene time and time again to find the differences: it turns out we all have certain expectations of where differences can be found, but in the end, we are forced to think outside the box we impose on ourselves. I suppose different settings each time would be very cool too. I will just look at all your other games to see if you may have already made such a game too :-) A nice approach on difference games!

A great game: not too hard, but interesting and nice graphics and a cool win-screen. The only small complaint I have is with the blue bar in the first room on which you have to enter a code: it would have been nice if you could click it ANYWHERE. I was stuck for a while and started the walkthrough video to get help. Once I saw the bar was clickable after all, I did not need the walkthrough anymore. Like I said: it is just a minor thing.

Allow me to point out two things to help with some issues I overcame myself (within 5 minutes, by the way): 1) if the game will not fit on your screen, press F11 (when NOT having the Flash game itself active) to remove your browser's toolbars and make the game screen fit (press F11 or Esc when not having the Flash game active to return the toolbars after playing); 2) find people or people-shaped objects to communicate with by walking up to them - from the right side. I am not sure whether I got the right ending if someone says the person opposite to them is a liar and so on... Did I pick a wrong answer and fail or did I get the 'good' ending? The mystery is not solved for me, really. I am not sure this is because of poor command of the English language or because of poor reasoning from my end, though.

Developer response from DystralEuphorie

Thank you very much for playing! And did it! It is an honor that I did in those days, it touches me deeply! Thank you for the advice of other users. In the end ... some include some do not understand. I'll write you privately to give you my version. Here, I prefer that people try to understand their way. But thank you again! And good luck to all others who want to end!

After playing the last battle until my finger hurt, I lost another battle in the very last wave and finally gave up on this game becoming any fun. I am glad Game in a Bottle makes rather diverse games, as most of their games suit me fine. I just cannot help disliking this one. I am glad it brings joy to others, though :-)

After winning the game, it was pretty hard to DIE and get my medal. I did not feel like going on too much longer. The game is fun, but I am glad it is not any longer than it is, really, because it becomes boring pretty quickly.

If you want to call a game an RPG shooter, I would have expected far more choices in the story arc than there are in this game. It would be better to call this a shooter with experience system. As a shooter, the game is pretty easy. As an RPG, it features too much small-talk and too little decision-making. As a whole, it works though, mainly because of the selectable ending. I would never pick a canon one! Having to beat the final boss over and over to unlock all endings is a bit annoying, but that is just a minor gripe. I enjoyed playing through this game and I was happy to see my personal wish was also available :-) Definitely a thumbs up for this game, but by reducing superfluous dialogue, you could reduce the amount of work that has to be done for a sequel a great deal, no doubt!

Very good, until the last level, which is an RSI inducing clickfest at first before it really becomes an enjoyable challenge like it is supposed to be. A button to automatically use the garbage script when possible would be very welcome.

I completely understand how people find this repetitive and boring, but for some reason, this game intrigues me: it has a nice learning curve, the atmosphere of the mysterious room is quite cool (and amazing for the type of game this is) and you have a keen sense of perspective to hide some books rather well without changing the lay-out of the walls. Even if I am alone in this, I have to say this is a really nice game to unwind after a long day of work and I like it!

I am willing to give this game a fair chance and seeing through the duplication glitch in the ninja room, but now the exit to the next room is in front of my character and I cannot proceed, I have no idea how to see enough of the game to give it a chance.

Nice: reached max. level, got max. composition upgrades on all max. level items and still the Giant is impossible to kill. Never before have I seen such a ridiculous limitation on the power you can get in an RPG. If I don't want a tough final fight but to eradicate the giant without much competition because I trained so hard, that should be my choice. The game has only minor flaws beside this, but this spoils it for me. Great thing to find out after going through all the effort.

I absolutely LOVED the surreal settings you created in the original, so I was very happy to see them in the sequal too. The atmosphere has remained the same, but the added events where definitely a great new feature! The only downside would be that there seem to be less 'levels' than in the original. Just makes me (and many others, I'm sure) hope even more that there will be a third installment, though. Excellent work!

Bugs galore, indeed. Respawning monsters on cave entries, loss of stat points after loading, but also: selling quest items (possible outside stores!) gives a lot of money and do not prevent you from completing the quest. Loading without a savegame lets you escape from a dungeon and keep your stats, while reducing your level to 1, meaning you can level up really fast again! Maybe you should sort all of these things out.

Great atmospherical graphics and a great laid-back game play (nice for a change). Also, the difficulty level is just right. For a game that was supposed to be more of an art project, it sure proves to be awesome!
