Great mechanic. Once it has been expanded, I can really see this game taking off. I couldn't get past the level with a stack of platforms, so I don't know what is past it, but some other things that could be added would be horizontal/diagonal bars, platforms that only appear when bars intersect, bonus point items that require more skill to get, countdown timers for some levels, and per-level upgrade items, like double-jumping or a one-shot bar killer.
Somewhat of a 'meh' game. One thing that really bugs me, though, is that a pelican or a dog can bring me to an abrupt halt despite the fact that I have a jet pack which give me enough boost to cover 2km in less than 10 seconds. I can see it if I am moving slowly, but at high speed, I should just slow down a lot in a cloud of blood and guts.
Fantastic little game. 5/5 Here's a tip from when I used to code games: the first 100ms or so of a directional key press should only move the character a very small amount. That allows for precision movement, one tap at a time, while still allowing the character to move at full speed for regular movement.
I've experienced the same freezing, starting from the first key platform. I walked off the platform, and the whole game froze up for a couple of seconds. There have also been periods of 'lag', where repeated freezing occurs. The oddest part is that CPU usage for Flash (Chrome Task Manager) drops from ~70% to 1-3% when a freeze happens. You *seriously* need to use a profiler.
I find myself really enjoying this. A minimap with your towers and enemies within their range would be *very* helpful. You should polish this up and release iOS/Android versions.
If you came out with a version of this for iOS/Android/X360/PS3, I think that you could make some *SERIOUS* coin. Fortunately, Unity is already set up for all of those platforms. GO MAKE SOME MONEY!!!
***PLEASE***, for the love of $DEITY, figure out some way to change the page background to black or dark gray. I've got a 24" monitor running at 1920*1200, and 80% of the screen is bright white, so I can hardly see anything in the game.
YES!!!! 1081 FEET!!! The secret is to max your booster, then use it all on the hill before the first boxes. You'll fly over most of them, then coast the rest of the way.
Hmmm... For the sequel, how about having 'training centers' that contain mini-games that allow you to upgrade your stats permanently? The character could lose 50% of the gains from the current game when she dies.
:sigh:
1. the 'Skirmish Unlimited' mission can be replayed, and, each time, you can earn as much money as your skill allows. You don't *NEED* to replay the other missions to get the best gear; just play it over as often as you can. 2. Play long enough, and you will earn $145,000 in achievement bonuses, which also lets you get the best gear. 3. STOP BEING SO BLODDY LAZY! 'Mission replays' are a recent 'innovation' in gaming, and are simply a play mechanic option that lazy coders like to use to make an unbalanced, overly difficult game playable. *This* game is balanced and forgiving enough that you don't need to go back and play them again once you have completed each one.
Please vote this up, and vote the whiners down. The game *deserves* to win the weekly.
3/5... Originally 5/5, but...
-1 for TOO BLODDY FAST WITH NO 'SLOW DOWN' OPTION. (*Seriously*. I was getting frustrated before I was through the first episode.)
-1 for poor selection/placement mechanic. Having to waste time I don't have to try to find a decent position for my units, only to accidentally bump the cursor 1 pixel to the left and NOT BUILD THE UNIT AT ALL, pissed me off to no end.
1. Add half/quarter speed slider. There isn't much time for strategy when you have to depend on twitch skills to stay alive.
2. Use hotkeys for unit selection, centering on base, etc. PLEASE!
3. During placement, display a shadow of the structure at the closest legal position, indicating where it will be placed if left-clicked at current point.
4. Have a 'Zoom Out' slider. You can't build your base up for what is coming because you can't both build and scout at the same time. Yes, your graphics are good, but it's more important to be able to see what is going on around you.
Thanks for ideas :) Will test them all!
