I gave it a week or so, just to make sure it wasn't just me. It's fun for the first 50 levels, then it gets boring. Once you're maxed out, what more is there? Racking up numbers? The shop is limited. You can only buy so many things (some of which are useless).
On the plus side, the market system is interesting. Level III investments are worthless (by the time I rank high enough to play, a 15% discount to mining ore is pissing in the ocean) 3/5
Nicely done. One of the best five-minute games I've seen. Nice animation, good sound FX, and some original gameplay. I would like to see a longer version with more challenging puzzles. 4/5
Not bad, not great. I'm not really a big fan of decision trees (too much like real work), but it was well incorporated into the game. I like the retro adventure feel (reminds me of the late 80's - mid 90's games). 3.5/5 stars. The dialogue needs a little touching up and the intro could be a little shorter. I agree with Bananamama - once you get to the actual game, it's way too short. However, the interface is smooth (I hate pixel-hunting) and some of the one-liners are pretty good.
What Tulamide said.
Srsly, I gave it a while to see if it was just me. nope. The grind is WAY over the limit. I did the rebirth thing at least six times - maybe more, as two stats are maxed. No difference in gameplay (if you can consider an idle game playable). Horribly unbalanced.
The plus side is the crafting and upgrade features. The overkill bonus was also a nice touch. Saved it from being a total disaster. 3/5
I tried to Leave a detailed review, but apparently Kong won't let me post over 1,000 characters, including spaces. You have a good concept (OTHER DEVELOPERS TAKE NOTE) in combining and RPG and idle game. It has its issues (too few quests, repetitive monsters, lack of detail), but a good effort. If it was me, I would leave the idle system as it is, and focus a bit more on the RPG side. A bit better crafting (rings) and more quests. Overall, pretty good. 3/5
I'm going to really try to not be harsh, simply because of the deluge of idle games.
Illegitimi non carborundum. Don't let the b**tards grind you down. Which this will. There is grinding and twerking. Somewhere in the middle is a happy medium. Something like a PG rating. This game fails to hit it. Now to be fair, I will give kudos for the bonus system, allowing a few extras bucks for killing enemies in sequence. Nice idea, but flawed as the extra gold has all the effect of peeing in a lake. It makes you feel better, but doesn't really raise the level. All it does is annoy the fish. On the positive side, the interface is easy to deal with. For those of us with bad eyes, I wish it would have been made a little larger, but that's easily corrected in cinematic mode. 3 of 5 - Good effort, but needs serious improvements.
4 chuckles, 10 LOLS, 3 ROFL's, and 4 stars. The humor was great. I can't really call it a game. It's more like interactive parody. The jelly-hand sequence was especially well done. Thank you for relieving us from the onslaught of idle games.
Well done. My only complaint was trying to find the knife. I had to go to the walk-through to see where it was. Yes, my eyesight ain't what it used to be. 5/5 - and I normally don't like horror games.
It was okay for about 30 minutes or so. After that, the nag screens killed the game play. I do NOT want to play Doodle Tanks/devil rush/world FIFA/whack-a-doodle, accept random challenges, nor complete useless missions before I'm even five levels into the game.
Good idea for a sequel, killed by junk.
The tweaks and updates are awesome. I really appreciate a developer that is "hands-on" in the community. A rare trait these days.
My only suggestion would be a cloud save or an export save option, so it could be played across multiple devices.
Runs OK in IE, horrible in anything else. Especially Chrome. Really feels unfinished, which is sad, considering how good the first Sushi Cat games were. Most upgrades are usless. It pains me, but 2/5.
Okay, gave it a couple days.....
Not horrible, but not great. Seems unbalanced. As you progress further, gold gained per second decreases. Prices increase for speed/attack/etc, but the price ain't worth it. 504 to go from level 18 to 19, for a speed gain of .02 sec? And gold collected is 9 for every 3 seconds?
3/5 - but it has room for improvement, so that's not a final answer. A few tweaks here and there, I'll probably rate it higher at a later date.
Notified Smokoko of suspicious activity. This doesn't look like their usual work. I could be wrong (they have made kid games in the past), but something doesn't smell right.
First, this really needs a bigger play area if you're going to have all those stats, healthbars, scales, etc. My eyes are bad enough, without have to strain to read a size 6 font. Maybe shrink the center "battle area" down some? The also might help with the display bug (don't know, never worked with Stencyl). Which brings me to criticism #2. The ships look like a couple of kids in a bouncey house (or whatever those inflatable things are called). All the rebounding and random direction changes just seem pointless. It's like watching a couple of drunks try to play pong - slightly amusing, but annoying after a minute. And number 3: What's the point of the shields and hull damage if you just immediately respawn after dying? It just seems like window treatments. They're in pace to make the view pretty, but serve no real purpose.
Sorry, but best I can give is 3/5. You have a good concept. It's just a "less is more" principle would help here.
This is what I look for in an escape-type game. Good art, logical puzzles, and atmosphere.
As people are saying - yes, it is very much like Submachine. So what? I liked that series too. This is a little bigger than the original Submachine, but with easier puzzles. Well, mostly. That damned bunker about drove me crazy. Had to resort to the walkthrough to figure it out.
All that being said, a solid 4 of 5 (by my scoring system, 3.8, rounded up). Looking forward to the next installment.
Hi. I have finished the next part of Abandoned. It's not Abandoned 2, but spin-off. Some bridge between 1st and 2nd part. Hope you'll like it. http://www.kongregate.com/games/krutovigor/abandoned-the-cube-chambers/
Short, but sweet. I agree that it needs some sort of pop-up to show the next level. You have a good concept here. Just a bit more work and you'll have great game.
I gotta agree with the majority. Unbalanced and tedious. Some games are a grind, but this is like grinding the Great Pyramid down to a pebble. With a nail file. Good concept, but needs work.
Thanks for the well-thought-out feedback!
