Also, is it possible to allocate click-and-drag for the map to the right mouse button? About half of the time, I ended up clicking one of my armies and had to cancel the movement.
That said, I did manage to beat all 6 monthly maps with all 6 nations in each one. Map 8778 as Greenland is a bear; Redosia and Turqoistan tend to take out the other three nations before I can field a decent army.
There are also some frustrating pathfinding issues. My forces often seem to ignore roads when calculating the quickest path that isn't a straight line, instead climbing over mountains or struggling through forests when an adjacent road tile would have been much faster. Also, units apparently are forced to stop when their movement would take them next to an enemy unit two tiles in a row, but the only way to make a roundabout route is to use an extra movement turn.
I'm going to disagree with kainic; morale is poorly implemented. I've had scenarios where I've had the final two enemies against the ropes, took out the capital of one, then the other grabs a half dozen tiles and their morale jumps from 10% to 40%, quadrupling their combat power, and suddenly those I'm dealing with 2 or 3 stacks of 2000 combat power units tearing through my empire, devastating my morale and further boosting their own. This combined with the total unit cap and grave penalties (but no individual stack cap) makes cautious play untenable.
The Simurgh is a mythical Persian bird-like creature. It is female and benevolent though, so it probably isn't the crow-like creature that's haunting are unshakeable protagonist. Seriously, if I'd gone through half of what Devitt had, I'd be curled up in a ball and crying forever.
When I can kill the boss in under 10 seconds without doing anything, that's indicative of seriously balance issues. Yay for the easiest 20 points ever?
The whack-a-mole minigame could use rebalancing. Sometimes even on a perfect run there aren't enough red things (crabs?) to smash to earn a gold trophy.
You need some kind of start menu, preferably one with instructions on the controls. Also, separating turn and strafe controls so you can do both at the same time would be a huge improvement. The boss moves too fast. As in, after it shoots me down, I spent about 10 seconds trying to get within sight/firing range again.
Fixed!
