I can't forthe life of me understand why people categorize these types of games as RPG or adventure. -1 to rating for being unable to categorize a game properly.
The atmosphere is good. The story is just the right amount of creepy, not overly cliche.
Only the pixel hunting annoys me - I can't seem to be able to see what can actually be done/picked up without mousing directly over the spot.
I don't see a point to this game being 3D... it's just a platformer with beefed up visual. Also, the controls would be more logical unders standard WSAD, or cursor key schemes. Not a bad creation overall.
This deserves a 5/5 just for the associated text! Make no mistake, socialism is coming at us through the back door. If you haven't lived in it, you can't recognize it just yet.
What's wrong with the saves? I had a shotgun and crapload of ammo, finished level, "game saved"... I come back the next day and all I have is a pistol?
The visibility of some collectibles is quite poor. I lost a lot of time going through every nook and cranny to see whether there may be a collectible item. Plus I missed some, of course.
Surprisingly, the toughest nut to crack for me is Peru. Nothing gets past those borders once they close, no rats, no rivers, not even the wind. Dayum, those Peruvians must have some tough border patrols!
Anyone getting this too? The space bar does NOTHING! And yes, it works otherwise, and yes, I am clicked into the game window; the direction keys work just fine. Any idea what's wrong?
On that note, customizing controls would be a nifty feature...
Why, oh why do the lone dagger-wielding foot-travelling buccaneers insist on attacking my fully-staffed and armed Vanguard? I do so hate mindless slaughter... oh well, another dagger for my collection.
Okay, now for constructive criticism: 1. add an option to furl/unfurl sails (speed control); perhaps a "match speed" command would be nice too 2. control camera with mouse, besides the "up" button (the auto switching of camera gets annoying soon) 3. make it obvious if/when the game has been saved, add a "save" button or feature in port 4. show statistics - both for the current ship and for the upgrades to it (what does buying a cannon upgrade do?) 5. provide more info on ship health bar colors, on trade prices in (already visited) ports, etc. More info in general.
Otherwise - great game, enjoying it immensely! Just a few improvements and it could easily be one of the top 10 games on Kong!
I admit, I haven't quite figured out kong's api yet, I'll keep triyng. ^_^
