An interesting premise. Sadly it seems like 2 rapid fire guys and 1 rocket is the best formation for every scenario. It would be way better if enemies had more blatant counters, any my units were more diverse (lay mines, snipe, pierce multiple enemies, boost allies stats). This game would be way cooler if I could move my units freely between floors. Like I have 9 guys: I can put them all on one floor to focus fire a lane or spread them out.
A game that I had a good time beating...........I wish there was a +1, +10 button rather than the game choosing for me..........I was not a big fan of the tech being hindered by age periods. It makes it unfairly difficult to beat the game because I had a surplus of tech and I could not level up and the last age is too short. It would have been better if the enemy just kept getting stronger and wiped me out......Likewise, I don't get the time limit. My civilization was ramping up production and the game just declares me a loser.
A really great game. The trick is to look for 'corners' and fill each opposite 'corner' with the same corner. And to fill in colors by number. Start at the most difficult and surrounded tile.
There needs to be some kind of invincibility special power. Far to often I would get swarmed and lose 6 guys at once and there was nothing I could do about it........The easiest improvement is to make all the minions line up vertically when quickly moving up vertically. This would allow me to avoid tight bullet spreads but it still requires in-depth knowledge of the game mechanics.
Good stuff. This game has great enemy variety with clear visual indicators and unique roles in the battlefield. And the bullets are properly highlighted so I can see them. Far too many games miss out on these 2 traits.......The upgrade system works well but I was missing out on the last 3 ranks when I beat the game and I didn't really have much interest in infinity mode. Item costs are a bit too high but not by much. It would be cool if I could sell or turn off some powers. I wish I hadn't put money into the shotgun because I liked the Rocket launcher much better. When I was trying to finish the "kill 15 dudes with grenades" I kept getting riflemen and snipers and it would have been nice to turn off their upgrade...........Great last boss but I wish it would drop a minions occasionally.
A really great game with smooth controls and great level layouts. And I especially like how there are usually more than enough traps to kill the bad guy................. I like how the fish has dots indicating where he will go........... The only real flaw was the spears because the monster can be high up on the screen and the spears are so long that frequently the spear would basically start off a third up the screen (as opposed to the bottom) and I couldn't dodge them. And the spears appear on the level with the least room to move around.
The king doesn't seem like that bad of a king. He killed the original bad king and it seems like the commoners prospered. He saved the kingdom from a bigger invading force with his cunning and went into battle himself. And he killed the dragon, who was an evil conquerer, with no soldiers dying and the commoners got more farm land. The only thing that he did that was bad was taking the water which is weird since its not like the water would stop flowing. And he apparently killed the giant evil fish thing in the river anyway.
Good stuff but there should be a little more leeway when it comes to being the right length. A couple times I was off by just barely an inch and it was annoying.
Protip: 1) in hard fights, remember that you can shoot upward..........2) you can 'sprint' underwater..........3) press "P" to pause. The letter "C" means checkpoint and the "I" means Item. So if a room has an I in it you need to get it.
Running and dodging falling rocks is really fun........Seeing a door open for the first time is kinda cool, but I don't need to see it open every single time. Though I have to admit that knowing the color of the door is very nice. ......At first I thought the wooden boxes were indestructible (I easily jumped over the first bunch) and went looking around for a flamethrower or something. .........When switching screen, sometimes the game would glitch out and very briefly show me an image or another room............When I was fighting the last boss I completely, I mean completely, had forgotten that you could shoot upward and for the whole fight I jumped high then shot.
Since I am impatient I would often times just take the damage and rush through obstacles rather than wait them out and have a 50% / 50% shot of getting hit anyway........I didn't know for the longest time that I could sprint underwater (since there are no visual indicators) so it took me about 10 lives to get the breathing apparatus……..The general combat is boring but fighting the two bosses are actually fun and creative.
Since there are only two weapons I don’t get why we need a weapon swapping button. Just make a rocket launcher button………I really appreciate the ability to modify my key bindings. My keyboard is kinda broken in some areas and I like the WASD + JKL (UIO) set up. But we should be able to get full key binding rather than having so many keys limited………I don’t get the point of limiting sprint time and why our gun can overheat. It is unnecessary, annoying and never was a gameplay mechanic……………… Other than getting lost a few times the overall level layout is absolutely stellar. Extremely impressive. We have color keycards, water and jumps limiting our map movement and this variety makes it very interesting, rewarding, fresh and easy to understand visually. The game leads you naturally to the next point and yet you are never beaten over the head with it. Again, very impressive.
Heck yea, level 55. I really liked the ability to pause the game and yet still act. It was absolutely vital when trying to perform more high risk moves. This game is basically set in stone and there is very little that can be changed other than letting us grow specific plants........One of the more subtle things that really helped this game is that we can have 7 plants. It makes you strategic with your placements and yet its not limiting. It really is impressive........My basic strategy is to spec out for money, expand as far back as possible, and rush the enemy by placing a plant next to a crystal and full out Symbiosing the attack plant. This gives you high mobility, high offense for direct strikes and a place to fall back on.
The graphics and art design and variety are really impressive and a big selling point. Likewise the level design is great and seeing how you get from one stage to another is really cool........The last level was one of the better levels because you had a sense of urgency and the background was moving.
The controls are great for general movement but are really bad for precise movement.......I like the camera controls.......Sliding is really fun but you never get to use it........You should not lose momentum when you do a slash attack......I liked the upgrades, Chakrams and jetpacks and invincibility........This game is by far at its best when you are moving fast in Sonic style gameplay. Moving fast, hitting the bumpers and arrows, sliding under enemies, rushing through explosions, its all really great fun......I wish I could stab downward. It would make it way easier to hit boxes below me.
