repetitive music is one of the only things I have to complain about for this game. The way you can't just buff up one spell and spam it is good design, and all the different enemy types help add spice. I find myself switching between elements quite a lot. I think the reaction between different effects is great, too, like how lightning will break free a frozen opponent. I haven't figured out if maxing upgrades early in the game is a bad or good design yet, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say it was an excellent choice. 9.5/10
On Survival I doubled the minimum needed for "Overlord" on my first try without any bonuses. I could have kept going, probably on to 50,000,000. The hardest part of Survival mode was my laptop surviving so many enemies spawning at once.
Game was fun but a little easy and basic. Riddled with typos in the Journal(s?). Decent and entertaining game, but just didn't quite have any "5 Star" game features or originality, and the typos dropped it to 3 for me. Doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it, though.
I look forward to being able to set my character to only use special if under 75% hp, not go to the next enemy unless special is over 50%, and not go to the next enemy unless HP is over 75%. Also, I'd love to be able to see what the refine yields and sell cost would be before choosing refine or sell on items.
great game, but it's too big for my monitor. There seem to be lots of little bugs with it that make it difficult to play, not to mention the poor grammar in the text. 4/5 awesome concept, but needs polishing. For a sequel, I would recommend more upgrades available for turrets, more turret types, possibly the ability to alter the weapons/ammo of the turrets. I do like the idea of not being able to alter the turret mid-battle, only the AI, and I LOVE the AI customization. But back to that polishing, there are some glitches with the AI settings such as not recognizing "clusters" and such. Still more than I can do with any other game, so I'm hardly complaining.
The ability to scroll with wasd would be a huge help in this game. I try to scroll with the arrow keys but it keeps scrolling my browser page. Cinematic mode doesn't help.
Just finished... bra-vo, BRAVO! Awesome game, well engineered, and great story. Thank you. It's not a game I would play over and over, but I would not trade my single play-through of this for any other game on Kongregate.
Fun, but easy. I started wondering why it got so hard all of a sudden at level 6, then I found the upgrades button! You know you need to step up your game when a player can get over half way done with the game before finding a major game mechanic (it's not that I had trouble finding it, I had just never looked before then because I was getting 3 stars no problem on Normal difficulty, so I figured I was playing the game right).
I forgot to mention earlier, but the song loop is driving me insane. The cut in the loop is not very clean, it's a very short loop, and it randomly gets quiet and sometimes stops all together, then picks back up at full volume. Very annoying. But still a fun game.
this game is very fun, but there are a few issues that make it nearly unplayable for me. 1- lag. This game relies so heavily on timing that any bit of lag in the system can kill you, very quickly. 2- it is very repetitive. You have to replay the same level over and over often making absolutely no further progress, just collecting more outfit components so that you might be able to find something with an energy boost to help get you to the next set of enemies that you'll then have to run to and kill 30 times before getting their equipment. It has been brought to my attention that you can raise the cat's stats... I'll try this. It's really bad if a PRIMARY game mechanic doesn't get discovered after hours of playing, and only when someone puts it in their review. Might want to see to that.
Thanks for the feedback FalconWolfe, a limited number of clicks per mineshaft could be an interesting way to add extra strategy to the game. We will definitely consider it.
My only complaint is that the pace of the game as a whole is not broken up enough. I don't like having to pause by opening the shop or menu in the middle of a level, I always prefer having a full stop between levels. It would be nice to be able to buy upgrades via an in-between levels menu rather than just unlocking things through experience. I like Upgrade games, so I guess I would lean towards wanting that...
Maybe you could make some levels multi-stage where after you hit the big cavern with the massive wave, you get a large deposit of gold or other reward, then have to keep digging. You might even want to add some sort of boost or healing effect for the enemies as they go through the caverns.
So fun! 4/5 for concept, it looks like you have ideas already for how to make it better. My guess is your next game will be a solid 5/5. Larger maps, more obstacle types, more enemy types, and more tower types/upgrades would all make the game more fun, as I'm sure you're working on those things.
Thanks! Sorry bout the repetitive musci tho. Was already at my filesize limit. For everything else, Thank you!
