To preface, I'm a HUGE fan of OE2 and plan on spending days on this game. It's very fun and certainly one of the better strategy/defense type games out there. But I do have some criticisms- It would be nice if there was a way to change what ships are produced without destroying and re-building docks. The multiplayer aspect doesn't seem to have much of a matching mechanism to make sure that battles are even, and the players often start close enough together to be able to win with only turrets. Ultimately, it feels like very little forward movement has been made since the previous title aside from the multiplayer. Balancing is even more of an issue than before because of the multiplayer, and there seem to be instant win solutions for players who have the right combos. My biggest complaint is simply that the big complaints with this game were present in the previous version.

How long did it take for me to figure out that you can break chests after you open them for extra gold? Very long...

The lag kills me, and my computer isn't "bad" or anything. i3 4GB RAM, should be fine for browser games. Nearly unplayable when there's too much going on.

I was like "oh, that's the final boss? Too easy!" Then.. "oh, of course he has a second form. Why is that surprising me?"

Good and fun, but short. Not enough upgrades to choose from, not enough fish available, and too small of a play area. The Kraken didn't feel epic at all.

@Maatroh, it's fine to want money for the game, but there are plenty of developers on Kong that are happy with the money they get from their publisher. For the games that do use microtransactions, they are generally able to do it without frustrating the player. As a simulator, this game has too much of a "game" feel to it, and as a game, this game doesn't have enough to keep players interested. Poor combination of the simulator and game genres.

Okay, I found the gun catalog and figured out the controls, so my previous complaints are invalid. However, the XP system is really broken. I never have and never will pay microtransactions in games, and it seems that there are certainly pieces of this game that simply can't be unlocked without paying. The camera, even with the "focus" button, can make it impossible to get the Sniper badge, and playing over and over for more xp just to unlock one gun is not cool.

This game clearly isn't complete... spelling errors, no navigation or zoom, and not many guns to choose from. 4/5 for now, but favorited and will definitely get bumped up to 5/5 once it's been cleaned up.

Could use some more weapons/upgrades, but is VERY fun so far and I could easily play for 2 or 3 more levels the same length as this one even without any changes. A little change of scenery or new enemies of course would be nice, particularly after beating the boss. --- My only complaint is that I sometimes had trouble telling which walls were destroyable and which ones were the edge of the map.

Suggestions for the sequel: A more graphical interface system and slower time progression would really help things feel less complicated. A good way to better the feel of the game while also adding another layer of management would be to have the factory complex on a planet where you have a top-down view of all your facilities, and must buy land in order to build new facilities. If you really wanted to go all-out, you could let the player arrange the building placement and manage the movement of inventory from factories to storage and vice versa. All factories would then need an upgradable internal storage compartment. Would need lots of customizable automation first, though.

I enjoyed it, but it had a lot of little issues that I just can't stand. 1) The screen changes I believe at the end of each day, but it happened more often than I care to say right as I was clicking, resulting in me clicking an add. This happened multiple times. Huge turn-off. 2) Granted I skipped all the tutorials, I didn't realize this was a time-trial game. A calendar or some type of warning when approaching your deadline would be helpful. 3) There is no point in the messaging system other than to be annoying. --- certainly a 5/5 game concept, but 3/5 for poor execution. I liked the game and will probably play again. I look forward to a sequel.

After playing for a bit, I definitely would like to see more things to spend money on. I find myself getting stuck at high level enemies and having tons of money, but nothing of use to buy with it, and no way to obtain stronger items until I beat the fight. I've not noticed any difference in enemy strength from one area to the next, it all seems to be very random, making it feel like the whole map is just there for show. An inventory for holding onto items would also help out when I change my creatures out for new ones.

Developer response from xarnaudx

Ok, I'll try to tweak the money a bit, it's still a bit experimental. Do you know what could you buy additionally? I was thinking of XP for creatures to level up them faster. Makes sense? In the next update, there should also be more powerful items available in the shop as you progress. That monsters appear to be random is actually so. It was a tricky design decision. If each area would have pre-defined creatures, it's likely the game would be tough when starting and easy in the end (when clearing the leftover spots). Currently, monsters appear based on your own strength. The more battles you win, the stronger your opponents will be. If you have good ideas to make it better, I'm always open to hear them out! Feel free to send me a PM! I'll also think about the inventory but that may turn out difficult. Since it should also be playable on smartphone (which have small screens) it's not easy to find room for everything.

I'm always bugged by games that are larger than my laptop screen, so if the game window can be made smaller, that'd be great. There is tons of diversity in the creatures, but I do feel like there's just not enough things to spend money on. Added shops and towns with arenas, etc. would be nice.
