Very enjoyable. If you play it a few times you find you get a knack to it, meaning you can get those big combos, get away from the sun, and get quite an easy hard badge whilst enjoying yourself.
Bizarre that hotsauces advice about the snake boss has been voted plus so many times. Its so patently only half-right. The snake follows a very very obvious pre-ordained pattern. Very very easy. Thinking of the final lair in terms of tiers (there are 4, and number them from bottom to top as 1-4) the snake goes tier 2, 1, 3, 4, 2, 1, 3, 4. Etc etc.
Actually I gave it another 5 minutes, just to find out how bad it was really.
Things that are wrong.
Too many adverts (worst being santa saying Bubble box is awesome - yuck).
Infantile humour (fart jokes are funny.. but ALL the time? Grow up developer)
Incredibly slow progress - takes forever to get money - especially as you don't get more control of where santa goes. Improving the cannon adds almost nothing for example.
The missions are very repetitive with almost no skill. So far only varying numbers of "do jumps" (duh), perfect jumps (in fact I've been challenged to do 3 perfect jumps.. twice), coins, tokens, complete Xmas, distance (over all jumps). That's it. In 30 missions? Wow.
In short thie game walks an incredible tightrope of being both frustratingly hard (because you progress so so slowly) and frustratingly simple (in that you don't have to exercise any skill or thought).
This must be one of the worst games I've come across on Kongregate. It pisses me off that it will get advertising revenue because it has Santa. Very very very poor.
So many things wrong with this game. They didn't listen to what people had to say on the original rocket santa - and added adverts. Utterly pointless. 5 minutes was enough to switch off.
Some more thought on hotkeys might be good too. At least I thought it would have been nice to have a hotkey that sets all plants back to default, and a way of selecting on plants (except 1), so that you can drag them all in one. Perhaps a bit like the way Civilization Wars' control mechanism works. Only being picky because I enjoyed it so much and am looking forward to Symbiosis 2!
This was a charming game, if a little too easy, but I really hope you make a sequel because I thought it was quite innovative, but above all it was extremely fun and playable.
One minor peeve (and this is picky). The final achievement (play each stage 3 times). Firstly that should be "complete" (going in and out of a level doesn't count!), Secondly, its a bit of a frustrating achievement if you've already completed levels after 1 or 2 plays. Perhaps tweaking the difficulty would fix this. I had no reason to get the experience points of the silver leaves, so I just completed each level on basic settings on my first attempt, then did max difficulty for second attempt. Brilliant game though
When (Did*) people like Gangren start making vitriolic comments about game controls without reading a comment three below his. Space for the next level, r for reset. Very intuitive. Mouse menu command is an extra, which I for one am glad for.
I just really don't enjoy this series. I know everyone else does but I just don't see it. Its a massive automated slugfest. Very little discernible skill and often extremely long and endless battles that you can do very little to influence.
