I like the look and feel. But the control swapping after hitting a flip is very hard to follow. If you could visibly turn, THEN step instead of immediately falling because you hit the wrong arrow, it would be friendlier.
I had to play a new game, but the pizza worked this time. Guess it was just a hiccup. Great game anyway, and thanks for responding to everyone's issues and comments!
5/5 game, 10/5 developer.
Lu_Muja, that's right. The mouse turns into an eye, but clicking does nothing. I guess I'll start the game over and see i it works. Everything else indicated as clickable is, just not the pizza.
I think I know why I'm stuck on the mouse part. I figure I need to bait it with cheese or something, but the pizza can't be clicked on. Is that the source, or is it not meant to be clickable?
Hm. After leaving a confrontation with Zombino (so guards won't let me back in), hints insisted I should visit Zombino. Reloaded a couple times and it switched to "catch a mouse." Not sure if that's actually what I'm meant to do now, or if the hint orders are messed up.
Hey, suddenly hen I try to continue I get a black screen. This is using Chrome. Game loads without issue but I cannot continue my game. Any info on this? I'm really enjoying it, but I don't want to start over and build up to the dock again.
Hit F12 to open the developer console and let me know if there are any errors in there. You could also try sending me your save file (hit options on the title page, and export save and then select the slot) so I can see if it's a problem with the save.
With controls this lacking in precision, there is no reason to have so many instances of narrow jumps over enemies and spaces the size of your character next to spikes. You simply don't have control enough to easily deal with the spikes in limited space.
The biggest problem is that the controls aren't precise enough for the jumps we are expected to make. On level 13, for example, there are platforms smaller than your character on either side of spikes, with enemies and pits between. That jump over and over is the whole stage, and the moving spikes make it difficult to jump around them.
I think the timer should be optional, if present at all. This is a game that is built for exploration; there is no reason to rush. Instead, maybe there can be a bonus for fast completion instead of a punishment for taking your time.
Really needs an easier start. I can't get used to the controls if I need to be perfect immediately. Also, You claim some start are impossible, but the high starting difficulty means I don't know which are impossible vs precise.
EDIT: Entered and left the town, then came back. The fifth time the next area loaded. Same bug happened when trying to retrn to town after getting albert, which was solved the same way. Very frustrating, time-consuming glitch.
As others have said, the game (both fight advancement and walking) is too slow, and switching between mouse and keyboard is annoying. Bug 1) Sometimes enemies don't appear, but battle still initiates. Invisible enemies cannot be targeted, but can attack you. If you don't run, you cannot advance the game. Bug 2) After the Mayor tells you to find his kid, one bridge leads to an all-black zone you can walk around. It looks like it should load an area, but... well, it just doesn't. I think it is stopping me from advancing, since I can't go past the town, and I've already spent a lot of time in the forest.
It's weird anyway.. I'm trying to figure out how that could happen, in the meanwhile I thank you a lot for your kind comment and your support :)
