It's a mark of the quality of this game's controls that I was able to complete the entire game (including impossible badge) without ever once getting frustrated, pressing the wrong button or feeling like a death wasn't my fault. That's a very rare thing. The rapid respawn rate and sound effect when the door opens (since you're not always watching the door) are also nice, small touches that make the game a lot better and more fun to play.
The setting feels a little derivative. The "puzzle-platformer where you're stuck in a dull facility with an emotionless rogue AI" has kinda been done to death at this point, and it doesn't have the humour or clever writing that makes games like Shift, Portal, Exit Path and Give Up stand out. The mechanics are nothing new, but the puzzles themselves are good and worth playing for. Ultimately it doesn't feel terribly original or memorable, but it's a good game for simple platformer puzzles. I'd give it a 3.5/5, but since there's no such thing as a half-star, I'll round that up to 4.
I agree that it isn't really anything special, and this was my first time making a game of this scale so I didn't really expect it to be. I definitely think my next games will be a bit better in that aspect. :)
Found the pig too frustrating to deal with, so I just built up enough momentum using loops to skip all the puzzles. I wish the pigs snapped to grid like the character does, that would make it way easier to deal with. It was annoying having a pig between two tiles that you couldn't get across.
I'd say that this is one of the best puzzle games on Kongregate. Very simple yet very challenging. It took me a while to get the hang of the patterns. When solving later levels, start by plotting out your general course (where do you need to go first? Which paths aren't possible?), work out where everything needs to be for you to get through, position everything by moving back and forth, then go through. In later levels you may need to do some major backtracking.
I keep noticing all the Minecraft sprites that you're slipping in these games... last time it was the cakes in the cake shop, now it's the emerald eyes.
Easy way to do 18 (without having to worry about a timer!). Select the place where the balloon is going to go. Write something meaningless (I wrote AAAAAA). Delete Deltype and use it to push the RemoveME onto the balloon. Use the same technique as you did for level 16 so it goes further onto your balloon, and thus is completely covered by the RightAligned boxes. Now you don't have a time limit! When you're ready, drop the bomb onto the balloon space. Try to get it to land on top of the RemoveME so the bomb completely covers the RemoveME's left side. If the RemoveME is still exposed, retry. Wait until you’re ready and the laser is close. Replace the nonsense text for the balloon with the letters of "balloon" ONE LETTER AT A TIME so the RemoveME doesn't fall. Delete the Rightaligned on the top. The laser should hit the bomb, shoot the RemoveME to the right off the screen and complete the level, all at your own pace without having to do any lightning fast typing.
I always like bontegames. Some levels are reasonably challenging, but never so hard I feel stuck or have to use a walkthrough. Completed every level except 25 without using hints and the hint for 25 didn't tell me anything I didn't already know anyway, so I don't know what everyone else is complaining about. I feel a bit like I'm trying to understand uncommented code sometimes- poking it to see what it does until eventually it makes sense.
My biggest enemy in these sorts of games seems to be my inescapable tendency to be facing the wrong way when I try to attack. I'm beginning to think I might have an ancestor who was a slice of buttered toast that always landed butter-side-down or something.
There's lots of interesting mechanics, but they don't really seem to go anywhere. As soon as a newly introduced one starts to get even slightly difficult, we move on to the next. It's a nice, relaxing game, but would probably benefit from more difficult levels and more focus on existing mechanics rather than constantly adding new ones.
Little bit on the easy side, but fun. Most of my deaths came from moving too far/not far enough when pushing blocks, which was annoying. It helps to press the key as many squares as you want to move rather than holding it down (e.g. double press right to move two to the right) to give yourself more control. The challenge level is much worse than the rest of the game- it's just waiting for laser cycles, which isn't much fun.
Ultimately it's a charming game, but not particularly memorable or original.
I find throwing is better than passing, as you have more control over where it goes and it's faster and generally just better. You just gotta make sure it actually does go where you want it to go.
This occupies that perfect sweet spot of difficulty where it's not too hard to complete, but you still feel like an absolute badass doing it. Can't believe this released in 2010 and I never got to play it.
All medals continued: 8. Butterfly Tamer: Catch all 5 butterflies. You need to leap at a butterfly to catch it, and be quick. 9. Shortcut Master: Use all 3 shortcuts to complete the level extremely quickly. 10. Primary Instinct: Catch the small bird at the end of level 2. 11. Black feathers: Collect all black feathers. When the crow crashes into a branch, it releases a collectable feather. Catch it. If any of the branches expire before you've hit all 5, they will no longer drop feathers and you will have to restart. 12: First knot: Finish the game.
All medals (improved from Exodiah): 1. Premonition: Touch all 5 knots hidden in Mileo's dream at the start of the first level. 2. Goodbye Family: Get 5 hearts in the first level. Say hi to two siblings, and complete your parents' and other sibling's quests. 3. Runaway: Get no hearts. 4. Little pig: Find the first shortcut (on left wall beneath first clothesline). 5. Revenge of Dog: Jump on the dogs head until he gets annoyed. I was carrying a boot- not sure if that's significant. 6. XXL Meowing: Find the second shortcut (You can reach and climb some metal pipes on the left if you jump on the dog) and meow into the horn at the top. 7. The Collector: Take a boot into the third shortcut (It's on the right in the area with two cloud-makers. A pipe indicates the location. Spam the one on the right and you can climb easily without awkward back and forth). Boots come from blue doors. Give the boot to the collector dog.
Fixed ;) thanks for reporting :)
