The captain of the first Mars boss claims that Earth is somehow allied with Venus and yet HE'S the one firing Venusian weapons? OK... Nice "logic" there... As far as the first boss goes, it's about as "fair" as Dracula in I Wanna Be The Guy. Seriously overpowered, takes up almost the full width of the screen, charges you without warning leaving you no way to dodge, takes 3 full shield blasts at point blank range with no signs of slowing down or damage in any way... Way to alienate your players there...
The blue button underneath the statue does absolutely nothing except maybe say "bleep" when you click it once. Is it supposed to do anything else, eg. give you a chance to enter a password anywhere, or is that supposed to be somewhere else? If so, why doesn't the walkthrough mention that? If it's dependent on doing a very specific list of things in a very specific order, then that's just sloppy programming. As for the voice acting, I just found that it added to its charm. Trust me, I've heard far worse from professional voice actors, eg. Frank Welker's version of Galvatron and just about ANY voice from the Viz version of Ranma 1/2 (If I remember right, Genma, Soun and Shampoo were the only exceptions).
People who think that there's no skill to this because they can fly right through the "Fun" set really need to try the Mayhem levels. Quite frankly, I don't think it's even possible to pass Mayhem level 1.
Where's the Catata fish of the stomach's core? Gotta say I love the music. :-) Amazing that you could compress not one, but two songs at such amazingly high quality along with the game in such a small amount of space.
It may not take 50 tries to beat all the levels, b0b, but with the game/controller lag, it sure feels like it. Seriously, Akirasan, why? It's not as though it takes a Cray 50 just to register a freaking mouse click. How about some coding efficiency? As if being forced to hold down the mouse button for several seconds just to get it to register wasn't bad enough, why is the animation in this game measured in seconds/frame? I swear, the dice in this game take 2-3 seconds for each frame that it takes them to roll! The old version never suffered from this drastic lag, so why should this one? The countries are gradient filled? Great! Just draw up the map in a paint program and store the PNG files in your program! Done! As far as the animated ocean goes, I'm sure there has to be some efficient way for Flash to do an overlay over top of a scrolling tiled background. The rest of the game appears to be identical to the original. Fix those 2 things and the lag should be gone!
How to beat this game (part 2 of 2): Don't attack anyone unless you have at least double their numbers, and if possible, hold off until you get about 5x their amount later in the game. Just keep attacking 1 country at a time and building your impenetrable tsunami. Keep every other country at only 1 army. Your being ahead of them by hundreds, or even if you're only almost equal to their strongest country with lots of others around as they'll all want to maintain the balance of power and don't want to risk attacking anyone, even a single army country, in case they get too weakened and overwhelmed by everyone else. Use that to your advantage. Keep on nibbling at a country here, an opposing country there, and build, build, build your unstoppable killing machine. Once every other army is down to a single country, then start picking them off at will. Enjoy your win. :-)
How to beat this game (part 1 of 2): Take a close look at the map and discover where you're strong and where they're weak. If it's on/near a peninsula, so much the better. Wherever you have a good mismatch, dump everything into that country and attack the wimp for what should be an easy victory. Only attack one country at a time to start with, maybe 2 if you're extra strong and they're extra wimpy. Once you have a couple of extra countries, build up exactly 1 of your countries into a superpower. Doing so will cause ALL computer players to think twice before attacking you. Whatever you do, DON'T wipe out computer players one by one. Instead, whittle them down until they're each down to 1-2 countries each.
WASD did absolutely nothing for me until I started moving with the arrow keys. Given that about 90% of the players will be using the mouse with their right hand, that seems like a pretty serious bug you might want to work out.
What's more frustrating than a game where you need pixel prefect timing? A game where you need pixel perfect timing which lags at random. Well done, BubbleBox. You've done it again. :-(
Walkthrough is available at http://jayisgames.com/review/submachine-4-the-lab.php. Given all the crap you have to go through in this game, though, it's not worth it even with a walkthrough since the game's not badged yet (deserves at least a hard badge if not impossible for completing this thing). What I really, REALLY want to know is, where did the walkthrough guy find all of these teleport codes? I didn't see anything on any screen that I came across that looked even remotely close to being so much as a single digit, much less a 3 digit code. 1/5 for the impossibly difficult design.
A nice little game, but it can do with more levels. Maybe a sequel, perhaps using other Platonic/Archimedean solids? Just imagine what can be done with a Buckminsterfullerene shape... I like the shuriken on level 4. :-) For those having trouble figuring this game out, every grey line has to be covered, and everywhere there isn't a grey line must NOT have a line drawn. On level 5, you don't have to use all the points (an obvious impossibility), you merely need to get the shape right.
Bug: the most you can get on level 3 is 4330, no matter how many pieces you use. Fix this, please. I also agree with many of the other posters here. Why should we be penalised for not using all the pieces? If anything, we should get a bonus!
It's probably just as well that it's not working. It's a nice game and definitely relaxing, but every single freaking time you die and hit "retry", not only does it restart the level, but it also opens an affiliate link to the home page. I'm guessing that that wasn't an accident.
