Meh, fun game at the start, but after any length of time the complete inability to play without paying renders it useless. Pity - a bit less greedy and you could have had a decent hit.
Really like the look of this, the comic book story, everything about it ... except the gameplay. It's just the same thing over and over again against different backgrounds. There's no real challenge - I'm about 80% through and died once. The AI is bizarre, enemies charge at you and walk away at the last minute, leaving you to chase them across the map. It's irritating that you can push enemies off the edge. Having to walk off the end of each level is annoying. Double tap to sprint doesn't seem to work for me. The spells are largely useless - charge usually just dumps me in the middle of a group of enemies who recover before I do. Regen froze me in place so long I lost most of the health it had given me - and the enemies were nearly a screen away when I used it. The group attack spells aren't that helpful since it's hard to group more than two enemies together without them randomly wandering off. Overall, it's just monotonous. Only the badges and the cute comic are keeping me at it.
Cool game, like the cutscenes and the upgrade option. Could use a 'continue game' from the main screen, not everyone will play all the way through. Even better, pick which chapter to continue from. Last boss was pretty hard on the eyes too. Great game though
Really enjoyed the main game, but hated the challenge levels. They felt like a different game - far more emphasis on precise jumping than the puzzle element. Had to give up halfway through 'Z - darkness' - prolonged 'alien' vision was giving me an actual pain in my eyes. Would have been a lot better with a bit more time put into the main levels, maybe an extra character and/or a couple more levels, than bothering with the challenge ones. Nice concept though
The gameplay is ok, but the story makes zero sense. Didn't help that I clicked through the text at the start without seeing it because of the window height. Bosses need health bars, flashing near the end isn't enough. Some kind of progress meter through the level would be a help too. And the upgrades screen really needs an explanation of what stuff does.
It's all a bit .... inevitable. Just a matter of time, repeating the same thing over again, until you win. On the plus side, now I know how it's *me* that's chosen to save the world in all these games.
Bit annoying that you can waste mana on skeletons and reaper when you already have them - should be made clear you can only have one of each, and spell shouldn't cast when it's a waste. Also, the counter of how many slaves are left offscreen isn't pointed out at all. I've upgraded 7 or 8 spells to level 3, still haven't got the in game achievement.
This is brilliant! Physics that work! Bombs on carts I can push into enemies! Shops that occasionally deliver zombies! A train that somehow wipes out half a dozen enemies before I even knew it was there. Health packs that get used automatically. 9.5 levels of pure fun (kept respawning in a corner trapped by the boss, who was a bit irritating). But still - 9 stars out of 5! More!
Fun, but could do with some spelling checks. That level with the moving nest (9?) took forever. And at the start you're thrown into it a bit before you know what's happening, a 'click to start level' option would help. Some inventive variations.
whats the point in making you repeat the first phase , with identical items, if all you want to do is re-equip your hero? Should be optional if you want more cash. the spinning tie break is pointless. It's all a bit monotonous
I've come across edge detection problems in a few places, when dropping blocks through gaps. The right edge of the block seems to extend slightly further than is visible, so even though it looks like it's over the gap, it doesn't drop. Sticky ladders are a bit annoying - climbing down them takes ages. Being able to just slide down them by pressing 'down' would be good - I don't think there's any levels where you actually need to climb down. And then just press 'up' to stick again. Could use a little bit of a story to round it off (why are the colours in crocks of gold - am I a leprechaun?), but fun game and looks really good.
Just updated it to fix that. Now you respawn in the same screen you die in.
