OK game. The fact that the timers don't stop when you pause is pretty bad, but the badge is a lot easier when you figure out the upgrade path. To get the hard: Try not to pause for long -- Space brings up the upgrade screen -- alternate damage, rate-of-fire, ignore move speed. Concentrate on flags -- the four in squares, lead the enemy around the squares and stop for as long as possible on each flag. I finished challenge like this, all the way to wave 40.
Way too subtle in your differences. Do you really expect someone other than the artist to notice a slightly different color on the tip of the lion's tail, or a small splotch being brown instead of black? The hints are really huge, but they take a long time in coming, and sometimes I still couldn't see the difference! I want to know the story, but not that bad. 3/5.
Give 'em a break for the Engrish, they're high school students in Asia! Better than some high school students here. And finally finished. I don't think there's anything after Loki -- I've maxed and tried everything -- but, the spaces are there, so... Get Excalibur by finishing lvl 19 with the first Gatling gun, Axia by maxing stats to 99, and the other superweapons by killing Loki. This is a great game. 5/5
I don't get why so many are complaining about the control system. You really don't have to learn or re-learn anything -- it does all the work. You move around with the normal keys, it aims itself. You can ignore the offset for the most part. Only being able to target the closest enemy is a pain sometimes, but is using E and Q to cycle through dozens of enemies realistic anyway?
The upgrades don't seem to help much. I put two MGs and one turret in each elevator, but the maxed elevator did only slightly better than a level 2 elevator, even though they were fighting the same type and amount of enemies.
Not bad. Really hard to get powerups without losing a lot of health -- it would be nice if there were some time after the level to collect powerups, instead of just skipping to the next.
The haddock is really easy, and the other bosses are really hard. I'm still working on the stupid Piano. It doesn't matter how fast I go, it goes the same speed, and it goes through the ramps instead of going into the air like it should.
The witch is a little messed up -- I think you can get the dragon with less magic than you should need, thereby giving yourself negative magic, but it's hard to tell. Also, if you click to cast a spell, then try to choose an invalid territory, then click cancel, you still lose the magic points.
Some sort of stats list for each unit would be good too -- one like in the tutorial, but that can be accessed in-game. As it is, I don't remember how much magic it takes to summon a dragon, or exactly what combination of resources it takes to build a city, and being able to look at that while making a decision would help a lot.
I think you should create more options. The options you have aren't that bad, but most I won't ever touch -- what I would like is a win-by-conquest where cities will NOT matter in winning, and a choice of getting rid of the random events that skip turns. And the high chance thing is not using a good algorithm -- I realize you want to give the underdog a chance to win, but something like 15-3 should give very very low odds of that, and it doesn't.
What you need to do if you die is delete the save file. In Vista you can find it in Users>[YOURUSERNAME]>AppData (hidden folder)>Roaming>Macromedia>SharedObjects>[nonsensecharacters]>chat.kongregate.com
If you delete the entire chat.kongregate.com, you lose all Kongregate saves, so beware! Different path on XP.
