(Part 2 of 2) Lastly, money came a lot faster than the Warpoints, but I only have to spend those once. To buy 3 ships, I need to spend 3x the cost of ships. This multiplies the increased cost of the trade ships vs the combat ships. Unless there is an economic way to win, then there isn't a real reason for the two trees.
Cool idea, and I had fun, though it was easy. Two major complaints. One is that things are not clearly described. It makes sense that sails and crew affect AP, but I don't know how much. That's minor though since I did figure it out. The issue is balance. You have two separate ship trees; one focused on combat and the other on trade. The latter has worse stats in everything but cargo. However the game is balanced in favor of combat. First off, even if trading can get more money, I know at the end I'm going to have to fight. I had the highest combat ships fully upgraded with tons of money to spam dynamite and still barely won. I needed the Dutchman to spread it's shots rather than focusing one one of my ships. I had to trade early on but later made tons of money through fighting where trading became tedious. (End part 1 of 2)
I wanted to finish the game before criticizing it and boy, it was a chore. The character moves way too slow and the jumping is so floaty that it was not fun to move around the world. This is particularly true because there is nothing going on. It's fine to have a game with no enemies or death traps, but if the gameplay is just going to be getting from point A to point B, you can't make it a hassle. Making a mistake would be a very time consuming issue as you try to climb back up. I would be interested in going around the world once color was added to see how it looks except that I can't be bothered to deal with the movement for that small payoff. I think this is the first game where I didn't explore because I didn't want to have to climb back up. (End part 1 of 2)
(Part 2 of 2) This also makes it frustrating that I can't pick up more than one object at a time. I got the balloon and thought "why not get the other low objects?" Nope, I have to go up and down several times. Ugh. You also need a longer music track. As good as it was, I was sick of it by the end after hearing it loop so much. The game had a few positives behind the dull gameplay though. I did love the music. I liked how each object added color to the world. That was the art in what otherwise looked like "yet another minimalist game". I liked how the boy started to fade out as I collected the objects. I like the story being about her letting go, and the symbolism of her releasing the dove. You have good stuff in there, but it's hiding behind an awful game.
Silly game but worth some laughs. I beat it a long time ago and it was easier this time than I remember. The game isn't that fun but the dialogue is hilarious, at least the first time. Thankfully you allow skipping. My favorite is at the end "Was it all worth it? Yes, yes it was."
Cute cow, but I got bored. The variations really don't do enough to make it fun to do the same thing over and over. Also, make the replay optional. Why would I want to watch a replay of every level?
Fun game but some jumps are too unforgiving, such as stage 14 or stage 25, where I had to redo just because I kept hitting my head and being knocked down.
I like the idea. My only real complaint is that the game doesn't explain itself at all, though you do in the description. I got annoyed with how many enemies can hit you from far away, but that's personal preference.
(Part 2 of 2) I'm guessing the levels were supposed to be the family members working together, but all it is nothing more than solving a puzzle. Does this shape them in any way? Is the father actually reconnecting with them? I have no idea. Oh, I guess not because he's dead. Oh well! This game told me nothing and taught me nothing. It's not touching like other games like One and One story or The Company of Myself because those games tell the story throughout the game. The patience level was pretty cool from a gameplay perspective. Second, in a game like this, especially one that requires precision, don't mock me for needing a few retries unless you're setting up that silly tone from the start. NEVER give me stupid advice like "You know you can skip levels, right?" and even worse, putting an overlay on the screen telling me to go to level select. When I see that, my response is "screw you." In closing, make a whole game of levels like "Dinner" and you'll have something good.
I enjoyed the gameplay. The puzzles weren't complicated but I always like games that have characters with different abilities. The wife doing the opposite but the husband doing whatever she did was funny. The music was great. The art was cute, as were the sound effects. The mechanics were fine other than the swinging. However there are several problems. First is the long and pretentious intro. As I listened, I got the point but it was attempting to be way deeper than it is. It's just too long. The fact that you have to give an achievement just for not skipping it should tell you something. Then despite the intro telling me the game was supposed to be a story, there wasn't one. The "dinner" level was what you should have been doing the whole game. Go play "Thomas was Alone" on Steam for insight. The narrator there gives character to colored rectangles. (End part 1 of 2)
Oh no, poor Sentry Knight! Fun game. Definitely different but I liked it. It was fun and hectic. My only complaint is that Pig and Spirit are red balls, just like enemy projectiles. Oh and on lvl 2-1, it was hard to get a barrel kill because of where they are, they do little damage, and there are only 2 of them. I had to get lucky for an enemy to be there to kill before they got blown up.
Fun campaign but endless mode isn't fun at all. I know you keep your skill points, but am I right that you lose blacksmith upgrades? I noticed my attacks taking more hits than during the campaign. That loss of power hurts the fun.
Not bad. It was fun for a bit but the 3rd level is just annoying. On the other hand, I loved the black enemies that hid in the shadows. I stumbled into them several times. Interestingly, the smallest enemies bothered me the most, at least until I got the flamethrower. The come out of the holes so fast and swarm you, and because you have the shotgun as 5 separate bullets, it's very ineffective against them. I stopped after dying on level 6 because I missed the lift even though I was standing on what looked like a lift. There isn't enough to the game to really keep me interested. I might go back and finish, but I'm not sure.
Fun but not as good as Dangerous Adventure. There is strategy but it's not as deep. Portent's luck special lets him attack when frozen by Misty. That makes no sense. 100% chance shouldn't beat "can't attack".
Not what I was expecting. This is lane defense, but victory is simply killing a number of enemies, not strategically winning lanes. Also, why give so much money if half of it isn't used? I like most of your games, but this one is weak.
