The early game pacing needs a lot of work. Once I got to the point where I could beat any bosses other than James, the Depths and Don't Bully Me, I could beat all of them in the first act, but until then they were all far beyond my ability to fight and I had to just farm super easy missions. It's made even more annoying by the fact that, to try one of the other missions and see if you're powerful enough, you have to battle through a bunch of trash for miniscule xp and no loot.
I'm not sure why people are so upset by the aiming, this isn't a particularly new or unusual system. I agree that power bar being on the cursor might be nice, but I really haven't had any problems with hitboxes or aiming except for getting used to the arrow arcs.
I'm confused why the boss is so easy and ignores all the stuff that makes the combat interesting. Without being able to attack its actions and without particularly effective attacks, you just kind of spam dynamite quick shots and hull shots until it goes down. I think the fight would be more interesting if you had to successfully board it or something instead of just shoot it for a bunch of damage.
I don't understand why this game is hogging so much bandwidth. I can usually run all kinds of stuff in the background and none of my streams or games lag, but if I forget to close this game it lags whatever else I try to do, even while idling. I think this poor optimization is causing the massive amounts of lag that many people are suffering from, which causes this game to be nigh unplayable for hours at a time currently.
I don't particularly like any aspect of the actual game itself, but I find myself coming back occasionally just to try and make my town look nicer. It's too bad visiting people is so glitchy that I doubt anyone else would even be able to see it, though.
Oh man, playing some of the later challenge levels and I just now found out that if you put a beam upgrade on a ping tower, it fires a beam AND the shockwave. Suddenly a decent area tower becomes an area damage powerhouse.
I'm enjoying this game so much, it's like a time machine to the future... I start playing and BAM! it's 3 hours later and I have to run off in a hurry.
The first is one of my favorite games around and this one certainly hasn't disappointed me. My biggest complaint so far is that the random distortion effect that starts up part way through is a bit annoying. I feel like that's intentional, but it lasts long enough that I wish it was a little more subtle.
Solid little game, wish I knew what all the gears do except for keeping my drones busy when they're supposed to be grabbing powerups and materials. I also wish the balance of metal vs. stars wasn't so one sided, because the stars feel very pointless all game. I was never limited by stars at any point in the game. Otherwise, I like the difficulty creep, I constantly felt like there was something I could be improving, and even just getting a little more damage or another regen module was generally a very noticeable bonus.
what the hell happened to your servers? I played this game awhile ago and liked it a bit, but now I have normal enemies or players randomly jumping behind me when I click on them, making spells constantly miss for no apparent reason.
I guess I need to clarify my earlier comment because I'm tired of getting messages from people, especially since it seems only one of them actually understood what I was saying. The specials lock to a character when you take them, you can unlock them by unlearning them if you make a mistake, but they just relock when you relearn them, so you can never have more than one person with that skill. This is annoying to me, particularly on generic necessities like healmore and revive, especially since you actually have to unlearn heal if you want healmore on someone other than your mage.
I don't hate this game as much as most music games because, beyond a few of the levels, the music seems to have no connection to the gameplay at all. The gameplay was novel for a few levels, but it definitely got old pretty fast, and the song by Tettix in particular is quite ear splitting, so I still can't give a particularly good rating.
