For those of you wondering what's different about purple (seems pretty obvious) it will cut its tentacles to attack you and heal itself and will link with its own cells to grow them like you do. Nice to see the AI using the strategies I did in the first game, much more challenging that way. Maybe for the next one each colour has different tactics, like aggressive or defensive. I'd like to see skills of some sort too; things like faster cell growth and tentacle extension.
Alright, I'm at the last boss; here's how I got there. Upgrade the normal shot a bit until you're scoring enough to get the rockets. Don't make the rockets very fast, since they make nice swarms if they're too slow to go offscreen when there's no enemies around. Level 9 is great for grinding with rockets.
Acid works well once the rockets don't anymore, particularly on the second boss, the meteors on level 8, and the mine enemies on level 14.
Next is the laser, mostly for grinding level 12. You'll need a lot of points to be a match for the last boss and level 12 with a laser is the best grinding spot.
Finally the pulse shot. You'll probably need it to get through level 13's huge meteors and it's the best weapon for the final boss. Using mouse controls against it also makes it way easier to get into the safe spots amid the bullet swarms. Still haven't beat the bugger though...
Requires a fair bit of grinding, but it's not much of a chore with some good rockets on level 9. Pretty fun stuff... hitting a wall at the second boss for the moment though.
It's kinda lame for previously stated reasons, but has some funny bits that are totally accidental. My favourite is when the guards find the boss' body, say something about that, then start talking all aggressive. 'The boss is dead!' 'Shoot him!' Goes well with the gimp AI.
Do the bonuses start spawning less often when you're full sized? I'm always scrounging for health when I'm a big target. Pretty good for what it is, but there's lots like it.
Definitly the best one of a good series, though the only one I've fived and faved. I was going to say I missed the revenge waves, then I played Hard. I thought they were pretty easy compared to the old ones, then I played Epic. My castle/hero died in about 2 seconds and he was level five! If you see a hoarde of guys with pink healthbars, RUN!!! I love the uber enemies though, the ones that are black or pink or whatever. VERY well done.
Matteo, you need to dodge the charge a couple times before he tries to spear you. Stand on the opposite side he'll be coming from and smack the bush until the ground shakes, then move up or down and jump when you see him. You'll usually dodge.
As for the game... pretty solid brawler, the disposably reusable weapons and stamina bar make it a cut above. Not bad at all.
Alright, I was a little surprised when I lost everything but my artifacts when I winged out. You could make that a little clearer in the Instructions, right now all it says is you keep artifacts, and that items from chests help you on your current quest... maybe I'm stupid but I think to a noob to the game that's rather obscure.
Made it down to level 11 on my first run, about to start my second. Great game but there is a little room for improvement: the stairs can be hard to see, making the ground brighter would fix this. I don't have magic yet but I can predict using it in combat will be a pain... I can see why the drag to use thing is in effect for items, so you don't accidentally use one, but this is no good for spells when battles are in real time.
A tip for people having problems... start out by establishing which tiles MUST be a certain way. These are easiest to find along the edges: straight tiles must follow the edge and three ended tiles must not lead into the corner. Corners are also easy to find MUSTs in, since there's only two connecting points. Check around gaps on the inside of the puzzle too.
