I can't explain why, something about the 'Fake Kid' thing makes me laugh. Well thought out game, nicely done. And a complete interface! Flyover help, detailed info on units, clear layout ... can't stress enough how important the little details make the game. Too many developers come up short in that area. Top marks 5/5.
Dropping my rating from 4 starts to 3. Here's why: First, as many said, the game makes a classic mistake of not letting the player collect resources before abruptly ending the level. I thought most developers had caught on to this by now. Second, if you miss getting a crucial upgrade in the shop, you're stuck playing the same level over and over again with inadequate equipment that prevents you from winning the level. No option to go back to the shop at all. I mean, really? It's too bad, I love a number of other aspects of the game. Change these two small things and my 3 starts go to a 5.
So @zephyrre are you saying you'd be willing to play another 10 levels just to get the meteor gatling at another 27 bullion? Buying that is one of the badges. What about the pig gun at 25 bullion? Or the damage amplifier at 7 bullion? My point is, the bullion drops need major tweaking. It's a great game otherwise, I've given it 4/5.
I just spent about 15 minutes in survival mode, only got 5 bullion. It took me playing the entire game, all levels, plus some levels twice to get the 30 bullion ship, but there are many, many other ships and upgrades that you can only buy with bullion. Total bullion needed to buy everything: about 240. Doing the math, that would take about 12 hours straight playing the same levels over and over again. And you're saying you've "increased" the drop rate already? Dude. You've got to get rid of the major grind requirement that's now built into the game. Either turf the bullion, make it buyable with gold, or dramatically increase the drop rate.
I'm with @Lloyd below. I've played the last level many times on both difficulties and had my nose up against the screen watching every ship be destroyed, and yet still the stats at the end say I've missed one? Is it invisible? Awesome game still and great successor to the previous two.
Just came across this gem. Why is this game rated so low? Very well done graphics, good balance and challenge, nice upgrade system. And yet, 3.77???? Come on. Maybe because the auto-collect wasn't there at first? Deserves much better recognition for the effort and quality put in.
Bug? I've finished the last level 5-24 and have gone back to previous levels, like 5-23. However, I'm not getting any more item drops, even with two +11 fortune rings equipped. Awesome game though (except for that annoying friggin pig and worm). 5/5
I'm trying to figure out what the Rogue "Agile Strikes" ability really does. I understand the description it has there saying it adds 0.5% damage per attack, but when I add skill points it doesn't actually increase my attack damage according to my stats. So, what's it really doing then?
@Pwn3D_BoyZ, I've uploaded a screenshot. I have the mouse hovered over the "Knothide Leather" creation, but in the popup description it's only saying it will create "Superior" armor, not "Epic". Note my crafting level is at 63. You can see the screenshot at: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/543/craftingip.jpg
@Pwn3D_BoyZ, I understand that. BUT, I'm currently at level 62 /AND/ crafting level 62, but I'm still not able to craft /epic/ weapons. According to the FAQ, at crafting level 60 and up I should be creating epic items, but I'm still only creating superior items.
@punksush1 it says that in the FAQ: "At level 60 crafting will be epic items". I'm also above level 60 and am not able to craft epic items. Does the FAQ need to be updated?
So it's 10:30pm, lying in bed with my laptop. Eh, I'll take a quick look at Kong, see if any new games. Hmmm, "Decision", intesting. Ok letsee, ... mmmm zombies yep ... captured the tower ... huh, new area, kill more zombies, cool ... get dis upgrade ya ya bzooka ... and thennnaa OMG!!! 2:30am!!! WTF????!!!
I really enjoyed this game, at first. But slowly, my rating has crept from 5/5 down to 3/5. Besides control issues everyone's complaining about (rightly so), I have my own annoyances:
- When I try to lasso a group of my units, why would I instead want to select the useless villagers (happens mostly on the zombie campaign)? I lost a few games because I was trying to desperately move my units to attack, only to realize afterwards the game had selected a group of useless villagers for me instead.
- Those balloon captions are amusing at first, but realized later they almost completely block out health bars of a group of attackers, or defenders. Need to be able to turn these off.
- Seems geared to force you to buy the premium to finish the later campaigns. I have no problem with premiums, have paid for a few in other games. However, seem to be stuck in a pointless grind. Maybe I just suck at the game :-~
People please stop whining about this being a "ripoff of Toss the Turtle". This game is based on a GENRE, a "catapult" type game, of which both this and Toss The Turtle belong to. Almost every game, movie, or song in the media is inspired by something similar that preceeded it. If you want to stick to your argument that it's still a rip off, fine. Then I say that Toss the Turtle is a blatant ripoff of Kitten Cannon. Look it up.
I've fixed this Mouse issue.
