Very good game. Cities aren't insulting to the intelligence, levels progress well. Removing the borders is a nice touch (and wonderfully post-nationalist)!
If you're doing the level 6 XP thing, don't bother waiting to 400 mana. Just spam hobbits immediately. They'll be past your tower range before they hit anything.
Hmm... I think Bahaumaut discovered something I hadn't got to yet. I need max faction status to unlock the very mission I was hoping would give me max faction status? That's like giving someone a really useful and powerful weapon as a reward for finishing the game (boo). Add another status title below "Ally" and put the final quest lock *there*. Fixed. (-1 star for crapping out the end game)
Nicely done! Solid interface and balanced progression. The "kill things until you've killed enough" mechanic for quests can get a bit tedious, even if it is just a flash game.
Note to players: if you're going for the hard badge, all XP gained in the caves contributes nothing to faction gains. Better to blitz the caves as much as possible and do your levelling against enemy groups.
Interesting, original concept! Two suggestions. 1 (minor): would be sharp if the text font was the same as the one for the puzzle (the "1" for example has a base serif in the puzzle, but not when you type it in), of corse that might make it easier... suggestion 2: 3D version using 2d cross-sections!
SFX/Music mute buttons! For cryin' out loud this should almost be the first damn thing put into every game. I need to use my speakers for other stuff. I'm not playing this any more 'til you add them.
Yes. It's that big a deal for me.
Other thoughts (mostly in response to the whiners): Don't let people re-spec mid-game, that's just dumb. (Imagine WWII Germany realizing it was going to lose the war, and trading in all its tank and airforce tech for nuclear capability. "Where'd that come from? Where'd London go? Why are the Germans suddenly flying triplanes again?" Not realistic) But, waiting until the player exits the skill purchase menu before committing the changes would help avoid "oops" situations.
I wouldn't mind morale being somewhat related to how far forward you've advanced in a battle. In the last battle, a little after I successfully secure the first trench (tanks intact), a mortar pops one of the riflemen bringing up the rear and... "FAIL".
Um... SoD: that's a cheat tutorial. Where's the fun/skill in that?
Wait a second... you're just a temp account.
Oh well. My response stands, and nuts to you pricks who cheat to boost your Kong score.
Autoturrents aren't totally useless. Put them right on top of you and they're pretty accurate. They just don't lead, so they're useless out in the field.
