Also...you cannot replay missions for experience, and you get none if you do not win a mission. That is a recipe for frustration right there. You have to somehow know what upgrades to choose and win. There's not even any going back, no resetting points spent, no nothing. Eeg.

Great game, but I have a feeling it would feel much more balanced if I wasn't playing on the "hardened" difficulty setting. It is better described as "the AI is a cheating bastard" mode. I've been sitting here for thirty minutes wondering why my bazookas do absolutely nothing to one tank. Every one of their soldiers feels like three or four of yours, and of course they can spam units behind cover all they want to while you are forced to run into them like a complete moron. It would be nice if I at least had a tank of my own at this point. Frustrating, but too fun to pass up.

One of the best games here on Kongregate. You actually succeeded in encouraging me to use more than one type of spell, and moreover got me to *heal* myself. I never do this. It is my eternal modus operandi to upgrage nothing, and I mean nothing but damage. Excellently designed; having to switch spells so frequently could be an enormous pain under a less competent developer, but it is entirely seamless here. The grind disappears as soon as your gobbo wizard buddy joins up and gives you his money-draining and critical hit buffs. The "fanservice" is not at all up my alley, so being able to turn it off is very much appreciated. And, the thing that really earns you my 5/5, I have learned a little something about Filipino mythology. Thank you!

As with every other Berzerk launcher I have played, this is just too slow. Progress comes at a snail's pace, the money pickups in the game are microscopic in proportion to how much is needed to do anything, and obtaining a new kicker doesn't seem like half the upgrade it should be for the ridiculous sum of money required; as many others have noted, it is often a significant step *down* compared to the previous one if well-upgraded. The price reduction from the devs is appreciated, but only solves one half of the money issue; you earn so little during a launch that it's going to take an eternity to buy anything decent regardless. 3/5.

Something quite nice that I noticed: one may consider this cheating, but if you leave the critical chance minigame on, it will play itself to an extent, allowing you to leave it on in the background as you do other things. I fell asleep having forgotten to close the game, and woke up with about 5000 additional critical stat added as well as a metric ton of XP. It's certainly not necessary to do this, but it's very cool if you don't feel dirty over it (I do not).

Fantastic! I've been putting this one off, as I am not normally an arena combat guy, but eventually the sky-high rating got me curious and man, has it payed off. Lots of fun to be had here despite the simplicity of the mechanics. I *highly* appreciate that gold is earned passively; it is nice not to have to play for hours at a time at some repetitive task to make money. 5/5 indeed, and deserving of its rating.

I'll add a little something that I have not seen mentioned yet. At the title screen, if you have a game already in progress, there is a "+" symbol next to the "New Game" option. If you click this (not "New Game, but the "+"), you may start a new game with the money and upgrades you have earned in your previous game intact. You do not have to beat the game to do this. So, if you begin to have trouble due to poor buying choices as I did, try this out. It's a good way to make up for lost money. Also, the power glove seems to be by far the most practical and useful of the offensive evil spells, so I suggest upgrading it to maximum before bothering much with the others. The anvil *can* be useful, but it's iffy, and I honestly have found no real use for the final spell.

I am saddened by the developer's untimely death and will deeply miss his work. His games are among the first truly decent online titles I played and which ultimately led me to this website. That said - and truly, I mean no offense - this is *not* among his better games. It's fun. Very much so. The thing that sort of ruins it is that it is very, very glitchy. You can read about them elsewhere; character limits, you know. The other problem is that the spells themselves can be dubious in ways (the anvil loves to miss and appears to be worthless against knights, and I cannot seem to kill them with the final evil spell, either). Moreover, coin collection is hindered immensely by their habit of hiding behind houses and other obstacles, which is a very unfortunate design decision. 5/5, out of respect for one of my favorite devs, but I would not blame the passing badge hound for skipping this one; I almost believe it should be worth an impossible badge for working through these bugs.

Got it as soon as I turned the sound back on. It's essentially necessary to know whether your hits are landing or not. He only requires three hits, so he isn't quite as difficult as he may first appear if you're willing to turn off your own music in favor of the in-game sound. Not a design decision I agree with, but at least it's just for this one battle. 4/5.

Well, as other reviewers have amply noted, this is far, far too easy beyond the very first experiment. The game cannot handle more than even a few upgrades on the player's side, especially in the realm of brute force. It's a *blast* to play, an awesome idea for a game, and very well executed; it just needs to be balanced. We need to be competing against *other* unstoppable, potentially apocalyptic viruses towards the end. Instead, one begins to feel like a bully on a playground. 5/5 (if it's this fun and there are no bugs, I'll 5 just about anything).

Something is wrong here. I read the advice in the top comments, I watch several YouTube videos, my ships are fully upgraded, I use nothing but the best and most expensive ammo, I aim for hull and hull only, and I've maxed out the star bonuses for all statistics except cargo. But I am not getting the results that you all are. People on YouTube are doing 5000, 7000 damage per hit with this exact strategy. I get 2000 or 3000, and I get destroyed again and again. Why is this? Is it a bug with the upgrades? I noticed that when I buy the farthest right upgrades, it acts as if I had bought the previous ones even if I had not, and I cannot reselect them; perhaps it's only registering half of the supposed upgrades on my ships. It's the only reason I can think of for this inability to reproduce winning results.

Yes, I am finding invasions to be far more brutal than the rest of the game. Obnoxiously so. I need the money from these cities to get powerful enough to kill a five star battle...it seems unfair to throw one at me and give me no hope of saving the city or taking it back in the near future when I've only just gotten five decent units.

Excellent so far, as was the original, and it improves much on some of its faults. I'm noticing something very off about the difficulty ratings and on invasions in particular, however. I'm getting four star battles that I can beat at the moment, but a three star invasion continues to brutalize me hilariously. Training is also a bit wonky, with stats apparently having hidden limits, or perhaps the results are being sabotaged by pure RNG. It's a bit of a mystery how I'm supposed to be progressing, here. This is on hard, though, so perhaps the balance is meant to be awkward here.

Excellent, man. Too easy to figure out and win, perhaps, given the small number of different units in the game. The only problem I have with it is what appears to be a bug. After finding the last unique on the map, I could *not* recruit him. The entire recruitment process seemed to become almost completely broken. Clicking on it did not always work, and when it did there was no loading bar, nor any indication that the game registered what type of recruitment site I had chosen. It was also free, and the wizard simply never showed. Otherwise, an easy 5/5.

This is a lovely timewaster for half an hour or so, however long it takes you to beat it. I have a huge soft spot for mining and gathering games, so this gets an obligatory five out of five from me. As has already been noted, it's far too short, and the problem seems to be that the "tiers" of equipment are extremely imbalanced. You can get only the first four tiers of ore from the middle-tier, smargd (emerald, in case you were wondering) equipment, but from that you can go straight down another...four(?) tiers of ore and within minutes have everything maxed out. 90% of the effort in the game goes to getting those first four ores. So, the problem could be rectified somewhat just by tweaking the equipment balance a bit. It also bugged me slightly that there is no quest for obtaining diamonds, and I think the game could use more ores and more things to do with them (and the money you make from them) in general.
