OK. Some feedback. It's nice, when you click on objects in your inventory, when the game says what they are. The first object I got after leaving the area I described in my other note, it looks like a tiny shepherd's crook, I have no idea what it is supposed to be.
I like this game already, even though I'm just getting started on it. I liked that the first couple puzzles required some thought, but weren't just random -- they were hinted at. However, now I'm stuck in the upstairs (where the book and sarcophagus are). I made the fire creature disappear (the first thing I tried), but now I can't seem to find any way out of the 4 rooms available to me. (5, if you count zoomed in on the book to be a 'room')
I liked it right up until the last level. jumping back up the ladder after getting the strength potion was just an exercise in annoying. Then, moving as a spider was really awful. Once I realized I had pushed the key to a place I couldn't get to it, there's no way I'm starting that level over. The levels where you had to wait for stuff (key popping up from lava, jumping long enough for quake to drop key) were too long. Waiting does not a fun game make. Other than those flaws, it was a very good game, with some excellent puzzles and a nice variety of techniques.
FIXED!
- last level (no jumping up that cruel ladder + checkpoint added)
- no or much less waiting in the levels you pointed out
THANKS A LOT FOR COMMENTING!!!
Good game. I like the upgrades and the different ways to play each level. I want a way to permanently skip the post-level animations -- I've seen them enough. Also, I think this is a bug: I'm playing a Mummy Survival level, and I managed to withstand a huge hoard, leaving me with only one building, and then they just stopped coming. I got back up to full buildings, and I'm just waiting. It's possible that I was actually at zero buildings for a moment, because I might have retaken that one after all the others were gone. Perhaps that's the source of the bug. Anyway, I finally had to return to map and was told it was a defeat, because nothing was happening.
Ok. So I reloaded and I see some targets and background. I realized that if you scroll outside the area with stuff in it, soon you are in the white with no idea how to get back.
I'm not sure what I'm supposed to see, but all I see are humongous crosshairs (almost half the window) which move around, and nothing but white behind it. No targets, no sun, no shooting, nothing but the giant crosshairs. I'm guessing it only partially loaded?
So I had two rooms with zero left, and the third room with one left, and no open slots nor partial outlines (everything in the book was complete and solved). I finally got the little sparkly hint for the last one, clicked on it, and it said "This is a sophisticated outline and might be hard to solve." However, when I open the book, there are still no unsolved outlines and no partial outlines, and it still won't let me into the last two rooms. Is this the end of the game? Is it a bug that I can't go on? What's happening?
I like the music puzzles, but I don't really enjoy search puzzles. I wish there were a hint button for that, so I could skip ahead when I'm sick of searching.
A decent implementation, but it needs more to be interesting. Add some Easter Eggs (such as a cave you have to back up to get into, but then it gives you a time bonus of a little more time than it takes to get in there). The levels should get harder; but not stupidly harder like a lot of these games -- they should be interesting. i.e. have one spot with a cliff that you have to inch over so that you can go down and through the bottom of it smoothly, and then retain your speed to get up the other side. Otherwise, it's impossible to get up the other side. etc.
OK, it's REALLY annoying that when I drag for maximum impact, I often find myself releasing over the link to your site, and a new tab opens up to it. If you did this on purpose, shame on you. Anyway, the controls are original, but that's because they are lousy. I don't feel like I really have any control over where it goes. I really you're trying to be different from all the other games of this type, but that wasn't the way to do it.
It needs something original to be worth it. Also, some levels finish if you were going to slide past next to the goal, rather than into it. If that's intentional, it should always happen.
Ugh. Second bug on the first level with a checkpoint. First one, I hit pause just as I died, and it got confused whether I was paused or not. The player was invisible and there was text that said press p to unpause, but it was active and if I hit p it gave a new 'press p to unpause' message. Second bug: if you miss the first trip of the little boat to take you across, you're stuck because it never comes back. It starts to, but only comes about 1/4 the way and turns around again. If this is intended behavior, then putting that checkpoint there is kind of a cruel trick because it doesn't help at all. (Going back to checkpoint doesn't reset the boat.)
Seriously, how many times do I have to say this? It's a keyboard game. So don't make me reach for the mouse to say 'next level.' Why didn't this irritate the crap out of you when you were testing? Space bar to continue. Is that so hard?
oh. I had missed the timer in all the shooting. I minor issue: you're better off if you don't kill the first guy, because that just makes all the others appear sooner. I think I'd rather see this where you have less hit points, but the guys don't respawn as fast and they take a second to get their aim. That way, it would be possible to keep the field fairly clear thoughout, if you aim fast enough.
What are you looking for in the warehouse mission. I killed something like a hundred of them, and they keep coming. Shooting the package does nothing. Is there a bomb or something to trigger, or and I must supposed to kill them at a faster rate than they shoot me? I need a little more hint as to why I keep failing. Up till now, though, a good game.
