Last night a new version of Kongregate was released with a few new features and some significant scalability improvements. Read and talk about it in our forums.
Epic War 2 was the winner of last week's contest on Kongregate for $250. The runners-up were Meeblings and Buggle Connect for $150 each.
Achievement Unlocked was the winner of last week's contest on Kongregate for $250. The runners-up were Flash Element TD 2 and Dinowaurs Beta for $150 each.
Super Stacker was the winner of last week's contest on Kongregate for $250. The runners-up were Meat Boy (map pack) and Destroy All Zombies III for $150 each.
This release attempts to make Kongai more accessible to new players and emphasize ranked matches, where you'll soon be able to earn achievements. To improve the beginner's experience, we have put greater emphasis on ranked matches, where players will be matched up based on skill level. Playing ranked matches is now the best way to earn cards, as the card drop rate for unranked matches has been lowered if you already have more than 10 cards. The drop rate of ranked matches will remain unchanged. In an effort to focus on fun, casual play rather than ranks in unranked matches, we've also stopped displaying rank in the unranked lobby. To make ranked matches easier to get to, we've also added ranked matches (Play 3-card) to the after-game destination menu. This release also includes numerous bug fixes, such as: --Juju same-speed healing on a killing blow with death mask no longer triggers Death Mask --Moving a card to a blank slot in the deck while placing an item no longer prevents placement --Signing in after being a guest no longer cause the guest deck list to show up in the deck gallery --Zina can no longer gain Beast Feast buff before opponent has died --Anex or Cain get the correct damage bonus under 30% HP vs same-speed attacks (The infamous host/non-host bug) We have also made it easier to purchase new cards from inside the game, so anyone who doesn't want to wait for card drops or weekly challenges can get any card they want as quickly as they need it. Let us know what you think and if you find any bugs. Thanks!

2nd Place and $150 to dahnraelz for Elastic

We were also extremely impressed by astro75's Gravity Master but regretfully disqualified it from the contest rankings because not enough of the game was based on the Shootorials. However, Gravity Master will be featured along with the three winners on the homepage during the next week for a points challenge. A fifth game -- Greg's Pick -- will also be featured (once Greg has picked it that is!)
Congratulations to the winners and all the entrants -- we were blown away with the quality of your submissions, and are excited to see the games you make in the future.

We'd also like to note that the Scion Remix Tool was released a couple of weeks ago, so be sure to check it out if you haven't already! It's a great resource in addition to the toolbox.
If you've already submitted your game or you're just a lazy player who wants to enjoy other people's hard work, be sure to check out the list of current entries.
Have you ever had more love for a particular game than a simple 5/5 could express? Well now there's a more concrete way to say thank you: a tip jar for developers. At the same time Ron Paul's dream of competing U.S. currencies has finally come to fruition today with the launch of kreds, the official monetary system of Kongregate.
Using now-obsolete United States dollars, Kongregate players can fund their accounts using a credit card or Paypal. Once your account is funded, you can use kreds to tip developers on the site using our shiny new tip jar system. Hey, if you're willing to fork over a few dollars to a waiter for carrying over your omelette, why not show some love for the talented developers who slave over a hot ActionScript stove to bring you some really great games for free?
Once a tip has been made, your profile will be optionally updated to show your contribution and support. After credit card fees are factored in, 100% of the tip revenue will go straight to the developer, without any cut for Kongregate (it's okay, don't worry about us -- we have lots of ramen).
You can start the developer love here.

It’s that time of year again—when the smells of face paint, pumpkin pie and rotting flesh unite the world with promises of sugary goodness and we here at Kongregate ask our members to use their vast talents to dress us up for the occasion.
This year’s entries ranged from Guy_In_Armor’s hilarious costume to Nezzadar’s absolutely terrifying submission. After hours of factual, reasonable and passionate arguing, where matt and BenV had to be repeatedly told they could not vote for themselves, we reached a decision. This year’s header is courtesy of bobuchan, who knows the fastest way to our hearts is through zombie ants.
We’d also like to recognize the massive skills of a few of the other top contenders. aldrin’s banners won some of our hearts, as did Juice’s bats and Aidan’s reaper.
Because of the super high quality of Kongtaminated, we had high expectations for trash’s entry, and he delivered in a major way.
To show our thanks for all of their hard work, everyone who submitted an entry will receive 25 points. For especially fantastic entries, we are giving out 50 points, while our winner bobuchan gets the jackpot of 100 Kongregate points. Don’t spend them all in one place now!
Gateway II was the winner of last week's contest on Kongregate for $250. The runners-up were Gateway I and Karoshi: Suicide Salaryman for $150 each.
Warfare: 1917 was the winner of last week's contest on Kongregate for $250. The runners-up were Wooden Path and Kongregate Tour v2 for $150 each.
Yesterday, as most of you were undoubtedly slacking off and being unproductive, 2D Boy unleashed World of Goo upon the unsuspecting masses.
Already receiving critical acclaim, World of Goo should be played by everybody — it's a textbook example of an indie success story on the highest level, a work of art lovingly crafted by two guys who decided to work on their own rather than for someone else.
Also, if you don't buy it, your computer might explode. Not a threat. Just sayin'.
Fun fact: The very first Kongregate office was actually a shared apartment with Kyle Gabler, who was often still awake and toiling away on World of Goo as the very first Kongregate employees began arriving for work.
World of Goo is available on WiiWare, Steam, and directly from the developer.
