The game has a lot of potential but it's also annoying in some respects. For me, the main problem is how often it asks me to post every little achievement and tell my friends about the game. Seriously. If I want to tell my friends about the game, I'll tell them about the game. Don't try and harass me into doing that, it'll just annoy me and make me not want to play.
I really love this game, but... honestly, it just takes way too long to shop. I did the math: it takes about 6 seconds to buy a pack, assuming that you don't spend time thinking about which card to buy and just click at random. Right now I've got about 20,000 gold, or 200 packs. 6 seconds * 200 packs = 1200 seconds, or 20 minutes of shopping to get rid of that gold. I'm sorry for sounding like a whiny "burdens of success" case but honestly, who wants to spend 20 minutes just shopping through all those packs, especially when most (something like 65-70%) of those packs will just be commons. I love the game, I love playing with shiny upgraded cards and all that, but please, PLEASE, let us buy packs faster. I've no problem with the game picking my cards at random.
Honestly, the thing I'd like to see most right now is the option to abandon a tournament deck without having to play all 3 losses, I mean games, I mean losses. I'm still very much a noob when it comes to drafting...
I've been on pacifist mode for more than two weeks. I haven't attacked anyone. I log on today and suddenly pacifist mode's off and I have an attack inbound. What the heck?
AI Seems a little buggy since the last update. 1 game against a Master Mogesh who bought nothing but aurochs elixers and fertility offerings. Another game against Raktaba'an, first turn he bought a zamgizar and bled himself to 4, after that he did nothing but buy unstable runes and feed himself magic.
A few days ago, the game asked me if I wanted to enter pacifist mode. I said Yes. It kept saying I'm out of Pacifist mode. I just logged back in, now I'm in Pacifist mode and have 2 attacks pending... that makes sense.
I love the card / strategy / crafting aspect, but to be honest I'm kind of frustrated by the city management / umpty-billion reward aspect of the game. It's just all so clunky. logging on, checking with the guild, buying cards, crafting, everything we do gets us a bunch of rewards and it takes so long to get to the "actual" game. Is there a way that whole part of RoM (logging on, daily draw, guild support, etc.) can be automated? I'm just here to play a card game.
I’m sorry if some/all of my previous criticisms have been taken as offensive or insulting towards the game. Let me make this clear: I think that War of Omens is an awesome, 5 star game. I play it just about every day and I have a lot of fun while I’m playing. I’ve gotten a ton of cards, including 2 epic coins, without spending a dime, and consider this, hands down, one of the best games on Kongregate. That having been said, there’s always room for improvement, and one thing this game lacks has been rather frustrating at times: either a speed control (so players can tell what the AI is doing) or a play log (so players can tell what it’s done). Just something that makes those blurring dozen-card turns of the AIs explainable. Losing isn’t always a bad thing, but it’s always frustrating when you can’t tell WHY you lost.
Well, let's see if this has happened to anyone else: playing against a Grandmaster Theodox. He's been dropping thugs and frames like mad and I've been struggling to stabilize but I finally build up enough board presence that he's forced to Mayhem, wiping out all of our allies. I'm thinking "great, I'm daramek and I'm holding a repopulate, so I just need to draw or bank an ally and I'm back in business. There's no way he'll recover before me." Then my cat starts calling for dinner. I take my turn, pass back to the AI and go tend to the cat. When i come back my board is completely empty and the AI has four thugs and about ten of my allies on his field. Boy, I REALLY wish I knew how he managed that!
