When you get to that boss (3rd to last) that shoots a streak-spread of three bullets, graze the shit out of it. I got up to 33 extra lives that way.
Also, shield is VERY IMPORTANT. Without it, grazing will be much less effective.
How to Kill (Super-Mega-Ultra-)Bosses: 1. Eliminate Small Units and Minibosses 2. Send 8 Units with Freeze Weapons 3. Leave Computer for 5-10 Minutes (Go Microwave a Chicken Pot Pie) 4. Win
Optionally, resurrect enemies to add to army (above 8 unit limit).
If you don't know already, you can double jump (takes some time to master). Additionally, prayer restores hope, though you have to hold down the button. Thought it was nice that the chamber in which you find Chloe (and the wires ship part) is shaped like a heart (outside, continue right, ascend "stairs", when "stairs" lead left, double jump to right, enter tunnel, jump up stairs, continue right until wall, left, double jump over black pools).
I was doing okay until I hit an exterminator level with spiders.
"OH GOD HOLY SHIT SPIDERS GOD DAMN! OPEN FIRE! OPEN FIRE!!!"
And I sat there with my eyes closed clicking randomly on the screen for eight minutes.
"I'm sorry. You have a horrible disease preying on your blood cells."
"Is there anything you can do to help me?"
"Well, I could remove the disease entirely, since it's localized into one point of your bloodstream, but let's just keep throwing antibiotics at it."
Good job with this game. Playable, addicting, runs smoothly (for me).
I would recommend new types of blocks; fake blocks (fall-through), blocks that only Mods/Admins can edit, glass blocks, jump blocks (double jump height) and some sort of light blocks (It gets really hard to see when you're building a room, sometimes.). Or an option to enable a different type of ambient lighting.
I say "blocks only Mods/Admins" can edit because I want to be able to section off patches of land for players in my world, but I don't want them to destroy or interfere with others' buildings. With those blocks, I could create walls.
Some more block types: One-Way Blocks (Can only walk through one way), Ice/Slippery (Less Control), Sticky (Less Jump), and Push/Conveyor (Automatic Move when Standing On).
