Nice to be able to mute the music, but the sound effects are way too loud. It's hard to listen to anything else. I'd like to be able to mute them, too.
I also have mixed feelings about the fact that hitting the red cars slows you down and pushes you a little. You're supposed to hit them so you can go faster, but hitting them means slowing down, possibly getting nudged off the road. It's a little more "realistic" and requires a little more strategy, but it's also a little annoying that the game basically punishes you for doing what you're supposed to do.
Good game. Like the graphics. Love that the car looks like KITT. Wish you could unlock not just "supercar" but Lightcycles (but I love that they're on the road). Would be nice if there was a little more color differentiation between the cars you're supposed to hit (red) and the ones you're not (purple). Would also be nice if there was a progress bar so you know how close you are to the end of the track. Also, maybe if the timer counted down from the target time? Just some thoughts on how to improve. But you've got a solid game already. Well done.
Bug: Wildcat's Air Spectre ability seems to just about crash the game. He ends up stuck on the enemy's side of the arena, attack animations stop, and damage from melee attacks no longer registers for anyone. Doesn't happen every time, but has happened to me more than once in the last few battles.
Oh yeah, I forgot - I like the fact that the game auto-levels enemies in story mode. Makes the game flow more smoothly, and it's more interesting to have the enemies themselves decide what forces to send.
On the other hand, I'm not so fond of the new pinball game - it's a nice idea, but way too small and limited. I also don't understand the point of the nuke bar - it doesn't give you much XP and it gets rid of all enemies on the screen. The only possible time you'd want to use it is if you're running low on fuel and really need to hit the ground. But that doesn't seem to come up too often this time.
Let's see... graphics and HUD are improved, play area is bigger than the screen, the radar actually helps you, enemies can fire more than once, story mode has a variety of challenges, there's some nice new humor, the boom bar charges automatically, there's a new enemy type which changes strategy a little... Oh yeah, this is the same exact game. No point to updating it at all.
I know it's just a video game, but... A suicide bomber with a rocket launcher? And the objective is to kill as many innocent people as you can? Seriously? How did this get so highly rated?
Remember, for those of you kids just learning to drive: you get special bonus points if you take your hands off the steering wheel while moving through heavy traffic!
BTW, I like the fact that car damage carries over from one race to the next. I don't think I've seen that before. But... what does damage actually do, other than change the look of the car?
"Hey, guys, I'm going out to Starbuck's for a bite." (I thought it was funny, anyway. The coffee chain was named for Starbuck, Captain Ahab's first mate.)
@sarah_k - It's physically impossible for a *baleen* whale to swallow a human, yes. But this is clearly a toothed whale. Moby Dick was a sperm whale, actually, a toothed whale capable of growing up to 60 feet (18m) in length. Even if it couldn't swallow a human whole, it could easily take a sizable bite out of one. And Moby Dick was based on the historical case of the whaling ship Essex, a large whaling ship which sank when a sperm whale, maddened by having been hunted by whalers, decided to turn the tables and attack. In any case, it's also physically impossible for a whale to grow that fast from eating a few fish, for a whale to regain health from mysteriously appearing undersea bonus bubbles, to jump anything like that high out of the water, etc. For that matter, it's physically impossible to do many things commonly depicted in video games. Double jumping and shrugging off heavy caliber bullets come to mind. What's your point?
Graphics are nice, interface seems to work well, but items and things really need descriptions. I need the walkthrough just to figure out what I'm trying to do.
