It seems like the detective has some sort of crazy dodge chance. To fully feel the absurdity of it, I soloed the final boss with him. Not sure if it was my game or others had the issue as well.
Yeah it feels like something's going wrong with the game. I seem to be killing the boss in one shot and not needing the upgrades at all. Playing with mouse controls and auto fire, and the same issue happens on every difficulty and survival. Seems like it would be a fun game if it didn't take 1 shot to kill each form.
Death bug still hasn't been fixed. Could be a really enjoyable game if not for the death bug. The spell bug can be worked around by keeping spell items out of the first 5 slots of your backpack, it seems.
I don't want to sound like some pretentious asshole, but really guys? Everything else in the top 5 this month has so much more 'game' to it. The graphics here are good, the music is good, the mechanics are a bit creative, and the story (and I use the term generously) is cute. But this is no warlight, no cactus mccoy 2, none of that. Are we as a community really so starved for love and acceptance that we'll praise this like 'the company of myself' when it's so much more shallow and predictable? This is a gaming website, guys, and not deviantart.
Oh please. The game is short, though pretty. The story is not a story at all, but a few simple ideas about love vaguely transformed into game mechanics. It's not an original idea, but it's well-executed despite how easy the levels are. Still, this is no 4.25+ game.
I hope you'll take that as constructive criticism, and feel free to contact me if you want a more in-depth analysis from me :P. I'd be happy to playtest some future games if you want a harder critic on your team.
I do take it as constructive criticism (although I still don't understand what makes level 1 difficult). If you want to send me an in-depth, I'd love to read it :)
Bah, my browser ate my comment while I was trying to shorten it: Anyway, short(er) version:
Level 1-2 were too hard and luck based, level 3-6 were pretty easy by comparison, and so was the boss. I found this particular musical track to be annoying and feel you could have chosen better within the genre. It doesn't seem to be possible to get the pink bonus for level 6 unless I'm missing something, and the luck factor makes replaying on higher difficulties or achieving/playing bonuses undesirable for me. On the plus side, you've put a lot of effort into this game, and have come up with some very creative level designs. I'd give the base game a 3/5, a 4/5 for creativity and effort, and a 5/5 for a friend and all-around cool person bonus.
I agree with you on level 2. I just updated the game to move it to be the fifth level instead. For level 6, the new circles don't start spawning until you open the first door, whereas the pink spawns after about 5 seconds, so just don't open the door and you can get her easily. I have also realized that one fundamental flaw with the game was my decision to compromise the game to try to reach a broader audience... the game is SUPPOSED to be hard and is supposed to be played on at least normal... on cake, there is a lot of luck, but when you have a lot more circles, the luck becomes less of a factor (by law of large numbers/averages).
Honestly she's more fun to mess with than the game is interesting to play or the storyline is involving, but this is a novel twist to the platformer genre.
2ton, your experiences were incomplete. He's one of the ways to win the game, because if you do everything he asks, he'll be instrumental in finding one of the game-winning scenarios. I won't spoil any more than that though. :P
I like how I can take my experienced and survival-hardened citizens from one successful city and have them fly away to try and reclaim another bigger and more challenging city. Where would they land? The middle, of course! After all that combat and leadership experience, I would have hoped they'd have more tactical common sense than to set up shop in the center of a giant city full of zombies. (protip: school the hell out of your 5 chosen citizens so they're great at everything, and equip them with the best stuff you've found)
Hah, yeah, they never learn. I know I'd head for the nearest deserted island and try to live off the land... then probably die of exposure. Not as fun a game though. :)
Despite the 15th challenge being kind of a luck nightmare, by the end of 21 I have to say that I had some fun going through them. Fun game - wish it were longer. 4/5
@Aiiushta: And yet 1000 people got the badge? Bunch of cheaters! No really, just make your first move towards Australia instead of taking over the last part of Europe, and on the turn after that, take over Europe+keep making progress towards Australia.
Oh, another year just went by. Perhaps they change every month? Also when people were complaining about too much dodging going on, I think they were referring to the enemies and not your own pet. Mine seems to have forgotten all about moving out of the way, but accuracy hasn't changed regardless of how much int I get. Also in a previous version I seem to remember int at least giving an exp boost, but it doesn't seem to do that anymore either.
It seems that my character fell into a coma for a month and two years and wasn't aware of it. I just looked up and thought "Year 3? orly? I was in the end of year 0 quite recently.
Oh wow, I loved this game from level 1, but it just keeps becoming more and more amazing the longer you play. This is the first time I've ever wanted to rate a game 6/5, because it got my 5/5 from level 1-2 already!
This is fixed now.. Really sorry about this, since it completely ruined the leaderboards. More info in game news..
