Great ! I'm invited at a wedding ! It takes place during spring. Wait ! no place in a hotel un spring. No problem : they'll move the wedding date to any season I can find some vacation...
Rather easy game. But since I'm a "casual player", I like it. I once spot a lack of AI from my plants : it stopped targeting a cristal that was about to be destroyed in order to target a new cristal that just appeared. This is a really good game nonetheless... just cap levels at 50 rather than 51, since the 3 last skill points can't be used on any improvement.
Wow !
I'm in front of Rick's new house. I look in the mail box. Something seems to appear, but I'm stuck... I look at comments and when going back to the game window, I got a screen congratulating me for retrievingg the relic.
Fix this bug and the game will be OK.
controls are getting bad at the swinging rope step... don't want end in rage quiting... i'll never know the end. It's a shame because the game it rather good.
Moreover, I'm tired of getting shot by people just because the game don't allow my sniper to climb up a roof and because my scout (not the one I mentione earlier) can't detect an enemy without being detected, too. And since the enemies are camping, they get full AP as soon as they move. Make the enemies walk around the place and you'll have a far better game.
As I already said, it's a shame because I'd like to love this game.
The graphics and sounds are very good to me, but a game isn't about the show, it's about gameplay.
I loved X-Com, I loved UFO, I really liked other games like these (like Fallout Tactics), but JA Online is just a pain in the ass, compared to them.
In those games, I could have a sneaky approach an plan carefully but JA Online only offers your soldiers to walk down a corridor with plenty of enemies ambushing all along, no place for any tactical wise plans.
And don't tell me about realism. Who would only take 3 soldiers to take on dozens of enemies ? The basic military formation is the binom (2 soldiers) and the basic squad is 2 binoms and a leader who can have a binom, too. (totalling 5 or 6 soldiers)
No. I quit the game. Permanently. He may not have a good perception skill, but a soldier standing facing an opponent, next to him (less than 4 metres in distance) in plain sight and plain light who don't try to hide... and my soldier in full health can't see him... that's more than I can bear. In real like, I'm really short-sighted and in that situation, I'd see my opponent.
I find it really difficult to call that strategic or even tactical, since there is only one path for your soldiers in almost every mission.
And when there are "secondary" paths, they are just small ways that quickly come back to the main path.
Add some turn limits (for archievements) that forbid you to play the "stealthy guys", that makes a really disappointing game.
It's a shame because it's a game I'd really like to love, but it gives great promises that it doesn't keep.
On the other hand, it's technically well made. I may be too used to the X-Com and UFO franchises for this game.
Really bad ally AI, special thoughts to the Archer.
Bad control and aiming : sometimes I hit close enemies, sometimes I don't and I can't figure out why.
Bad ranged enemy balancing : as soon as two or more of them are on screen, it's almost certain defeat.
It could be a really good game, but it isn't.
Er... still no "the end" after I rescued my dad... a bit short, too, but really well made. 4/5 because of game going on after rescue. Very close to 5/5, though.
