The game is never going to be free, and KChamp will never hand out free tank coins. The income from this game pays for server upkeep and further development (like the patch we just had that cracks down on hackers). The free game itself is *excellent*, and if you're upset about deluxe weapons and weapon packs, realize that you get a bigger power boost at level 1. Regardless of what you WANT, the fact is that the game is free, the paid benefits are cheap (deluxe is ~$2), and, with the weapons you get at level 1 and up to level 10, you can play perfectly well. The issue is less about more and more about skill... so practice.
@BLEEDnow: No.
@JoltinJoe: Make your own games, ask everyone to stay random, warn that you'll boot anyone who isn't, and boot them if they don't behave. I do this all the time.
@cacon: If you mean a weapon that always hits, you pretty much get that in Dead Weight. As long as you can get the shot over an enemy, it's automatically drop straight down on them and hit them. If you mean a large flash-impact weapon, you get Flower at level 1, Massive Shot at level 2, Nuke at level 40, and Hevy Roller can act like this if you get a direct hit too.
@NewBlimpy: You get Area Strike at level 1, but you're upset when I use EE Bomb (the smiley bomb)? Let's see which weapon could do more damage on two close-together tanks...
@Mako: The fact is that people quit to do shady things. The scoring system is out of whack, and people will do things like have one team-mate quit so you don't get a Decisive bonus for your win, or just quit because they didn't get their fave weapons because the penalty is negligible. -100 xp is a big enough penalty to make people hesitate to griefquit or ragequit, but still low enough that a good player can make it back in one or two games. It really would only seriously penalize serial quitters.
I recognize that this is a physics-based game, people, but it ain't rocket science. If need be, spend some time in the firing range getting used to angles. Especially 45 degree shots (135 if you're on the right) for when you can make them and 100 power high arc shots for when you're in a hole. Remember flare weapons (like air strike) don't do well on sharp slopes, be careful that your ricochet weapons (like Crazyballs or 3 bounce) don't bounce back to hit your teammates, and try and use another weapon with a larger damage area (like Massive Shot) or various Roller weapons to test your angle before adjusting and trying to use accuracy-dependent all-or-nothing weapons like Sniper, Stream, and the like. Lastly, remember that xp is xp, try and just enjoy the game and make friends instead of talking trash that can get you banned and quitting because you didn't get your favorite weapon. Here's hoping KChamp sets the quit penalty to -100 xp or more for anyone who leaves a game by any means.
Flower: You whine too much. Some weapons are just flavor weapons. Tricky Box is just Massive Shot with a different graphic; it doesn't really need a description because you know what it does. Same thing with Satellite, it's just a flavor weapon, it's not meant to be uber. Consider it another chance to get a grenade in each game, like how Tricky Box is another chance to get a Massive Shot. Double breaker does do more damage; it has a better chance of hitting tanks that are close together more than once. If yer not getting the most out of it, then either use it earlier in the game when people have less time to spread out or use it on tanks by the wall so the extra bullets will bounce back on them.
@samsung180: Sometimes, if you cause a large explosion and a tank drops from near the top of it to near the bottom due to land damage, they can take the damage twice. This is why sometimes a well-placed Flower can do so much, because a tank will fall through one or more of it's explosions. Also, watch Area Strikes... sometimes, the very first explosion hits twice because the tank drops through it. Heavy Roller causes a rather large explosion, so it can happen.
By the way... that 45 degree angle shot? Most powerful tactic in the game. Go to the firing range and practice it till yer click finger falls off. This shot style can drop 3 balls, 5 balls, creek, river, X Attack, O Attack, 11 ball, with low power burst fire, rapid fire, and splitters/double splitters/super splitters and more on a target with stunning accuracy. 3 ball, 5 ball and 11 ball can be used to bury a target with this shot, sometimes better than any digger weapon. It's also a great way to start getting range adjustments on several targets if you know your power distances, and an obnoxious way to dump many weapons on an already-buried target. Learn it, love it, hurt people with it.
The single biggest power boost is at level 1, before you buy anything or fight anyone. Nevermind Deluxe players, weapon packs or the rest, the level 1 weapon assortment is the single biggest power bump in the game. My biggest fear at level 20, deluxe with four weapon packs? Diggers and a five-ball used digger-style. Not even the grenades that follow (bad idea, btw.), but just getting stuck in a hole by a level 1 player with a well-placed digger. As for the rest, weapon packs and deluxe gets you no power boost you couldn't get by just grinding out xp and earning 5 ball, 11 ball, nuke, fireworks, bouncesplode and the like, except their levelling speed. Learn a couple of simple shots (45 degree angle shot... 135 if yer on the right... with the right power to drop a 5 ball, 3 ball, double splitter or the like on your victim, and 100 power high arc shots with proper angles for when yer stuck in a hole) and you can mess up any player at any level with a few simple low-level weapons.
Dear whiners: Get a friggin job. Heck, McDonalds just had an all-day hiring event. If you want Kreds (and so, in this case, coins), spend ten hours flipping burgers every week and you can have all you want. Not old enough to have a bank account or get a job? Take your check or allowance, buy a pre-paid card at Walgreens or Wal-Mart and put $10 or $20 on it. Kreds aren't the villain, and they're friggin cheap, so sack up, get a job or ask Daddy for an allowance, or just stop whining.
As for new weapons... BFG 9000: huge bullet, explodes about the same size as massive shot, does up to 80 damage at max range / Cactus Strike: Fires a flare similar to Air strike. Strike missiles are cactus, four strikes split into six cactus each, doing 10 per hit / Magnets: Initial strike throws a spray of 11 magnets upwards similar to a small Flying V, shots come together as they drop, 14 damage per hit / Double bouncesplode: Two balls that explode every bounce, doing 8 damage per hit, each bounces nine times
Needler: shoots 17 bullets in a spray similar to rapid fire. Bullets stick to where they land, then explode in sequence doing up to 11 damage each / Asteroid Storm: Fires a flare similar to air strike. Five asteroids rain down in the general area and explode similar to normal asteroids, doing 30 damage per hit / Minions: three small rollers and three small back rollers spread out around your target. If aimed correctly, the back roller land behind and the rollers in front. All rollers roll like normal and explode for ten damage each / Cat: A shot shaped like a cat that does 50 damage / Sticky Trio: A trio of shots in a Three Ball pattern. They stick where they land then explode for 30 damage per hit / Holy Grenade: A yellow grenade that explodes in a large area for 60 damage per hit
