This lag was horrible. And did I really have to wait to let that silly intro screen load and play out? IT's a flash game for crying out loud. I want to play immediately for a few minutes and then get back to other stuff...not sit and wait for a useless intro screen to load and then drive around doing nothing waiting for the detonation.
Does getting the Superb, Amazing, or Excellent actually do anything other than bring up the extremely annoying slow motion and ruining your momentum? If you are going to put something annoying in the game play, at least give a money boost.
I wanted to like it, but the terrible control sceheme just wouldn't allow it. I wish game designers would just let the "wall jump" die already. It is way too overdone, and never made sense to begin with. Plus, this is another game that expects players to have three hands. Two for the keyboard controls and one for the mouse to hit replay or next.
Attack and Jump buttons both restart the level. So you don't even have to lift your hands. What kind of new, innovative feature would you like in a game that allows the player to ascend upwards besides wall jumps and double jumps? Let me know. I'll use it and credit you for the idea.
The upgrades could have made it clear that you were wasting all that money on one time deals for the two "other weapons" None of the upgrades were explained really, like power. Plus...my old pet peeve...a keyboard controlled game that stupidly forces the player to use the mouse to go to the next level. I really don't know why flash game designers seem to think that their players have three hands.
The game play was fun enough. Nothing all that original, but well done. However, the level select (or going to the next level) was a nightmare. Not only did it take wayyyyy too long to count up your score on boards with lots of gears (should have been able to skip that), but the old standby of forcing a player in a keyboard controlled game to use the mouse to go to the next level comes into play here. It really should be tattooed on the inside of the eyelids of every flash game devleoper..."If you are going to have keyobard controls, then allow players to do EVERYTHING with the keyboard."
Is an attempt to reconsider the well-known old genre... By the way i like this control scheme more then usual point-click. Although it is not perfect yet.
I love the originality of this game. There is just one problem I have with it. It is a pet peeve I hve with all games that do this since it is such a simple change and should be obvious. If you are making a game that requires keyboard controls, then allow players to Restart a level or move to the next level without having to use the mouse! Once I have my hands on the keys, I don't want to have to keep moving my right hand off to use the mouse.
Some times you run into a game where you really wonder if the creator actually PLAYED his final product before releasing it. And by played, I mean to actually play it, not just to look for bugs. Thisis one of those games that makes it seem like it was never played for playability. I just don't see how anyone could experience the silly controls, and moving forward with very attack and think this game was ready for release. Or that players would REALLY want to walk across TWO screens just to upgrade their weapons. This isn't an RPG. We just want to fight. Just let us upgrade on the same screen as we we chooseto fight. And why bother with training if it doesn't imrpove your skill level?
I really WANT to like this game, but there are just too many problems with it. First off, it is extremely annoying to have to use the mouse for the menus when both hands are normally on the keyboard for fighting. There is no reason to now allow keyboard control for the buying items too. Second...this game slowed down faster than Into Space 2. Even after I switched it to low quality. And finally, I don't know if it was by design or not, but the controls are shaky while fighting. It is annoying enough to move forward slightly when attacking, but made even more annoying by the fact that I would hit the direction to turn around, and wouldn't turn around.
I like the idea of this game, but the game itself has too many issues to play for more than the 3 matches I did already.
As many people have said...the upgrades are either WAY too expensive, or there needs to be another few upgrades to increase the amount of money you get for squashing gummies. Also...Survival Mode should be basically a BONUS. Meaning there should be MORE money making opportunities, not less. I averages about $30,000 per round in regular move, and about half that in Survival Mode. It's a good game...but it isn't THAT good that I am going to play for weeks to get all the upgrades.
MUCH better than I was expecting. Had me playing until I finished in one sitting, which I had no intentions of doing. My only small complaint was that some of the Survival Quests had more to do with luck. You had to get the potion to become Burrito Bison at just the right time to make it easy to do, otherwise it was almost impossible. But then again, since the game wisely replaces ANY of the quests you complete with the next new one, that was no big deal. Game did slow down a bit after awhile though.
RadicalRam...it is not about being too hard...it is about there being no logic to the upgrade order other than what the game creator wants you to do. So, it is basically a game of "I am thinking of a number between 1 and 10...guess!" There is no skill involved to looking up the order of upgrades, and since there is no LOGIC involved either, it is a game where no matter how skillful you are at the timing of the too fast launch device, you can still lose. Personally, I don't go online to play "Pick a number between 1 and 10" games.
On top of all the other negative comments, allow me to point out the dumb concept of having to time your skis of "Freaky" right, and how more ridiculous it is that there is no altimeter to let you know when you are getting close to the water. The only visual clue is you can see some of the trees in the background. But if you are coming down from a high enough altitude, that doesn't give you nearly enough time to process what you are seeing and click. Nothing more annoying than wasting expensive one time only upgrades. I almost get the feeling that the creator of this game never played his own game before releasing it.
I forgot to add..the biggest frustration for the firing system is when you get surrounded. There is literally no way to get out since you are shooting in the opposite direction you are moving, meaing you are moving into a group of enemies that are obviously not being fired on. Andif they surround you fast enough (which is hard to avoid sometimes) you don't even have time to try to set your aim to strafe since the turrent movement is too slow.
I can't really figure out the logic of always having the weapon fire in the direct opposite of the direction you are moving, except when strafing. It makes it a game of avoidanve rather than a shoot 'em up game. Made even more frustrating by the slow response of your "turret" so it really becomes a guessing game except when strafing.
Decent game...I just wish all game creators would take note of a very simple addition that the best games have. If your game involves the possibility of having to Replay a level, PLEASE give players the option of hitting R to replay, along with clicking on an icon. It is a very simple and easy addition to the game, and makes playability so much better.
This game is really a shame because it COULD be a great game. Maybe even one of the best ofhte launch/upgrade games. But with all the bugs, and seemingly intentional annoyances in the game (way too crowded, for example), it almost makes me wonder if the creator of the game PLAYED it after finishing before releasing it. I just can't believe anyone playing this game would consider this a final product. This isn't even Beta. I think the problem is he tried to do too much for this game. It was certainly an ambitious idea, but it was too much to handle it seems.
To those saying "simply refresh the page" for the lag issue, well, it gets pretty annoying when you have to do it after every 5 or so launches. Besides, that is relaly not the only issue in this game. There are just WAY to many obstacles that it becomes a game of chance rather than skill. There is no way to avoid them some times since they come up on your so fast with the game zoomed in more than it should be. It reminds me of the games where you hit a penguin or whatever and bounce along the ground. The better ones have a FAIR mix of good pickups to bad ones. The ones not worth playing seem to impale you by the 3rd bounce and stop you immediately. That is what happens here with all the helicopters and blimps.
I am always a sucker for these games, but boy did this lag. I don't have the fastest computer ever, but it is not slow either. And the 3 second countdown would take 10 seconds. Then I checked and my browser was using a GB of memory for this game. There just isn't enough in the game to warrant that.
Attack and Jump buttons both restart the level. So you don't even have to lift your hands. What kind of new, innovative feature would you like in a game that allows the player to ascend upwards besides wall jumps and double jumps? Let me know. I'll use it and credit you for the idea.
