Thanks to this, I'm not going to get Yo Dawg. It's just too tedious.

I didn't have much trouble in this game. I'm not sure what did it, but here's my approach: I completed each level once, no matter the rating. Then started over after level 15 etc. For bosses I usually saved mana up for a meteor shower. I always bought temples and/or huts at the edge of map (to trigger stealth asap), and had lots of crypts and huts near the gems, to kill ninjas coming out of stealth. I started with orc skills, focusing on getting cut out study and mastery, then bounty. Then I went demons to go for the return portal to at least get excellent on all. By the time I got all excellent I had also invested in undead mana. I never really used frenzy. The only grind was the last level, and it was only a handful of repeats. Wave 40 was just 5 meteor showers. Good luck.

This is not a clone of Fez. And Fez even had many similar predecessors. Sky Island is one example of that (you can even find it here on Kong). The point is that stealing games is not about whether it shares similarities. Virtually all games are heavily inspired by other games, and will have similarities with other games created before and in the future. And there's nothing wrong with that. The problem is when people create complete clones just to steal revenue from the original game.

On level 19 I died several times by hitting space to block a shooter, but then being teleported into the shooter to make a box on the tile further ahead. I'll probably get used to it, but I would think the most intuitive thing was to place the box as close to yourself as possible, or maybe even validate if you'd instantly die before correcting the player's position.

Developer response from Casiogre

Ahh this happens on certain faces in specific orientations since we're faking the 3D physics by flip-flopping x and y coordinates (previously the physics engine would push the player into the box being made if we didn't correct it). The shooters were a relatively recent addition so we haven't tested extensively with them yet. Thanks for pointing it out and offering suggestions. Checking for potential death before correcting sounds like a good plan!

My 1 year old gaming PC might already be reaching its limits. Argh. I'm lagging even on low graphics in a flash game. In the first city I'm even lagging into houses (so I walk on the walls/roof), and the only way out is by hitting the door, so I enter the building. But so far I liked a lot of style options, the free-roaming style and the combat system.

Am I the only one that gets a lag spike every time I release space bar, A or D? It runs smoothly if I don't touch any keys. I have 8Gb RAM, an i7 (gen3) quadcore 2.20 Ghz CPU and a GeForce GT 635M graphics card. It's not an ultra-gaming setup, but I'm pretty sure it should be able to run flash games like this smoothly.

25 to S1 was by far the most steep difficulty curve. I really didn't like that bubble-slide mechanic in level 13, that was also needed in S1 and above. And I thought the flow of difficulty could be way better. Level 20-24 should have been used to practice for S1, especially because I felt like they didn't really bring new challenges. But besides that, I thought it was a nice attempt at a unique concept, and I like games that integrate dynamic music flow.

Agree with the critique of the final boss and the rocket bullet upgrade. Also, honestly.. the game's dialog made me cringe a bit. It's so dumb it hurts. Even knock knock jokes would be an improvement in my book. But maybe I'm just not the target audience. Gameplay was also very unoriginal. And the whole game just seemed like it was a project made to scrape in some quick cash, rather than make a fun game. I guess animations and visual effects lived up to the usual flashy Kingdom Rush standard and it looks like it still took some effort to complete the game, but anything above 2/5 would dishonest of me. Sorry.

I'm having some difficulty with 3-X. Sometimes I even fail on straight lines because of the speed. I've tried recalibrating many times, and the offset varies between 0.01 and 0.08 every time - even with a consistency rating of A or B every time. Since I'm a hobby musician, I know my beat tapping isn't above 99% accuracy, but I know it's pretty decent, so I feel confident believing many of my errors must be either keyboard latency, or the game not picking up the strokes at a consistent delay. I've been almost through the level though, so I'll probably get it eventually, but I wish more could be done to make the errors solely based on human timing faults.

Lol, I feel silly writing that comment now. I refreshed the page, thinking level 9 may have been buggy for me. It turns out it wasn't, but refreshing also made me scrutinize my methods, so I finally realized why some of them don't shapeshift.

I'm not sure why people are having trouble with level 7, I think level 9 is a lot worse. Level 7 took me like 5-10 minutes, while level 9 has taken me over an hour. I'm sure there's just something simple I don't get, but I've been trying lots of things and, really, all prior levels could mostly be done by just experimenting randomly around the screen.

Alright, so I got the 30 achievements badge in about an hour. Don't know if that's good. But it was easy. All I did was farm the highest levels that I could do expert in (hold down N at the beginning of a level), and then save upgrade points until I could afford a big bunch of one upgrade, since you only pay the price of the last upgrade level. 1st level just required two upgraded basic towers, and a little later I used upgraded fast towers. When my initial money was high enough, I started spamming super towers instead. I got the badge when I was able to complete level 11 on expert.

I don't yet know if it's a good tip, but you save upgrade points by buying more upgrade levels at once. So I started out by grinding mission 1 for a while. It's very easy and fast to get 24 upgrade points by placing two basic towers and spamming all waves at once. Save up a bunch of points and then buy a decent upgrade. I imagine you can probably use that initial advantage to exploit a later level that yields even more upgrade points. And then hopefully you'll shortly have all upgrades.

@DeNiro probably because offline works for many people. Or because people are tired of hearing about it over and over. Who knows. The Kongregate comment section aren't exactly designed to be helpful or illuminating. It's a system designed for posting reviews of the game, coupled with a voting system for all the wrong reasons. Not that I think that's a good thing..

Wow I'm really bad with these kinds of games. I don't know how I managed to play the first one through because now I can't even go further than the first elevator you encounter. It feels kinda silly because I'm fully aware that these are just some pixels on a flat screen. I wouldn't survive long in a paranormal horror reality, that's for sure. I'm suddenly glad I never really have scary nightmares. I guess I'll skip the badge of the day for today.
