come on, cut the log section. the rest of the game is fun, light-hearted, and the different ways to die reward the player for exploration. the log section is just boring and annoying. 5/5 log section is still terrible, though.
there are many "physics-based" games. almost all of them are bad, but this game exceeds any expectation of "well, i'm going to roll my eyes for 5 minutes as each stage proves itself more and more idiotic and detached from logic." no, this game literally improves the quality of those other games simply by displaying just how bad one of these cloying trial-and-error annoyances can be. unbelievably, this game proved worse than the sequel, and while clicking the link, i knew - I KNEW - that this would be the case. it's the same kind of stupid curiosity that leads mice to grab cheese from mousetraps. this game literally exists in a desolate, hopeless, pitch-black world where there can be no stars, therefore, i have given you none.
one severe criticism: you need to allow an option to either sell units or advance waves, because in the late game, when you're stuck with enemies from all elements, but can only choose 3 elements, you get stuck fighting enemies and strengthening them, as they go through, wave after wave. i had a boss go through 13 times and kill me, while i could do nothing but watch. if i could have advanced a wave, i could have purchased more guys to counter the boss.
the improved scouting report makes all the difference in the world. it honestly brings the game to a different level, by taking out the frustration you'd get by going with the "suggested element"
2 more spelling errors for you: one of the talents is called "mark of the pheonix" rather than "mark of the phoenix." also, when you mouse over the wisdom stat, it says "for those who covert knowledge" rather than "covet." also, the new fixes make the game much much better.
this game is amazing. amazing! it is massive and almost too much to get a grasp on. the only critique i have so far is the difficulty - which is partly exacerbated by the fact that items and their effects aren't adequately described. some are obvious, but others are pretty hard to figure out, except by trial and error, which potentially means going through a battle with a crappy item. it is difficult, there's no doubt about that, but it also manages to be very engaging, very fun, and full of surprises. 5/5
everything costs too much. look at other card games, when there's a card that generates resources, you don't charge for it - it defeats the entire purpose. you've not only set a resource cost for builders, mages, and recruits, you've ALSO set a cap for them. that's stupidity. 1/5
i basically agree with everyone else's critiques of the game and also add that it has the luck-based flaws inherent to all card games. i'll also add this bug: sometimes if you try to quit in the midst of a game, two different songs will play simultaneously. the game craps out after that, by which i mean that if you try to get in a match, your opponent will not play, effectively freezing the game. 3/5
addendum: take one shot every time you can't hit someone, because while the image for the character placement area is very large, you can't place your character anywhere near the actual edges. take 2 shots if the enemy you missed makes it to the portal, take 3 shotrhuigenuiernguerh DRINK THE WHOLE BOTTLE! do not play this game. it is full of unfulfilled potential. just drink and play solitaire, instead. you won't miss anything. 1'd.
this is the only game on kongregate i would advise against for those with weak livers/stomachs:
1 shot for each time an enemy monster doesn't get hit until he's half way across the map from the hero that hit him; 2 shots if he dies; 3 shots if he makes it into the portal.
1 shot for each hero that dies while the rest of your characters live, due to the fact that you must grind earlier levels to bring them up to par. 2 shots if this now dead character that you unlocked is actually weaker than the ones with which you began the game. 3 shots if two characters die within 15 seconds of each other; 5 if they all die within 30 seconds of each other.
1 shot for each time a character ends up executing multiple attacks simultaneously; 2 if they end up killing multiple enemies; 3 for a boss kill.
even though it's a d ouchebag drink, i suggest jagerbombs, simply because, much like the mechanics of the game, it doesn't hit until considerably after you expect it to.
this game causes my computer to lag so badly, it is ridiculous. it doesn't matter which browser i use, unless i've played a stage a few times, the performance is just horrible. you don't think we could have had a permanently-accessible quality setting? 4/5
this game is great (i may have reviewed this before,) a HUGE part of the game is the soundtrack, which literally evokes memories of the cthulhu mythos. basically, i am a huge nerd and love anything dealing with h.p. lovecraft, aside from his blatant and horrible racism. a suggestion for an alternate soundtrack: turn the sound off on this and listen to the theme from "tetsuo: the bullet man" by nine inch nails, just search youtube for tetsuo nin.
it looks great. i think you should have added more content before asking people what they think of it, though. some degree of interactivity should be present. 4/5
now, come on, how is this fair? if you're going to smooth and stretch the pixel critters, then it's more of a "random ambiguous shape of varying size hunter." i like you, so i think i'll leave it at that.
like some of your other games, the concept is old and kind of meh. i'm going to guess that these games were made earlier in your career. still, the creativity and style almost make up for it being another "remove the ____! physics-based gafndjsbfcius!!!!one1!" 4/5
